ตาวะติงสา เทวา สัททะมะนุสสาเวสุง. ตาวะติงสานัง เทวานัง สัททัง สุต๎วา

Tāvatiṃsā devā saddamanussāvesuṃ. Tāvatiṃsānaṃ devānaṃ saddaṃ sutvā

the devas of the Thirty-Three cried out. Having heard the cry of the devas of the Thirty-Three,

ยามา เทวา สัททะมะนุสสาเวสุง. ยามานัง เทวานัง สัททัง สุต๎วา

Yāmā devā saddamanussāvesuṃ. Yāmānaṃ devānaṃ saddaṃ sutvā

the Yāma devas cried out. Having heard the cry of the Yāma devas,

ตุสิตา เทวา สัททะมะนุสสาเวสุง. ตุสิตานัง เทวานัง สัททัง สุต๎วา

Tusitā devā saddamanussāvesuṃ. Tusitānaṃ devānaṃ saddaṃ sutvā

the Tusita devas cried out. Having heard the cry of the Tusita devas,

นิมมานะระตี เทวา สัททะมะนุสสาเวสุง. นิมมานะระตีนัง เทวานัง สัททัง สุต๎วา

Nimmānaratī devā saddamanussāvesuṃ. Nimmānaratīnaṃ devānaṃ saddaṃ sutvā

the Nimmānaratī devas cried out. Having heard the cry of the Nimmānaratī devas,

ปะระนิมมิตะวะสะวัตตี เทวา สัททะมะนุสสาเวสุง. ปะระนิมมิตะวะสะวัตตีนัง เทวานัง สัททัง สุต๎วา

Paranimmitavasavattī devā saddamanussāvesuṃ. Paranimmitavasavattīnaṃ devānaṃ saddaṃ sutvā

the Paranimmitavasavattī devas cried out. Having heard the cry of the Paranimmitavasavattī devas,

พ๎รัห๎มะกายิกา เทวา สัททะมะนุสสาเวสุง.

Brahmakāyikā devā saddamanussāvesuṃ.

the devas of the Brahmā host cried out.

เอตัมภะคะวะตา พาราณะสิยัง อิสิปะตะเน มิคะทาเย อะนุตตะรัง ธัมมะจักกัง ปะวัตติตัง อัปปะฏิวัตติยัง สะมะเณนะ วา พ๎ราห๎มะเณนะ วา เทเวนะ วา มาเรนะ วา พ๎รัห๎มุนา วา เกนะจิ วา โลกัส๎มินติ.

Etambhagavatā bārāṇasiyaṃ isipatane migadāye anuttaraṃ dhammacakkaṃ pavattitaṃ appaṭivattiyaṃ samaṇena vā brāhmaṇena vā devena vā mārena vā brahmunā vā kenaci vā lokasminti.

At Bārāṇasī, in the deer park at Isipatana, the unsurpassed Wheel of Dhamma has been set rolling by the Blessed One, and it cannot be stopped by any ascetic or brahmin, by any deva or Māra or Brahmā, by anyone at all in the world.

อิติหะ เตนะ ขะเณนะ เตนะ มุหุตเตนะ ยาวะ พ๎รัห๎มะโลกา สัทโท อัพภุคคัจฉิ. อะยัญจะ ทะสะสะหัสสี โลกะธาตุ สังกัมปิ สัมปะกัมปิ สัมปะเวธิ. อัปปะมาโณ จะ โอพาโร โอภาโส โลเก ปาตุระโหสิ อะติกกัมเมวะ เทวานัง เทวานุภาวัง.

Itiha tena khaṇena tena muhuttena yāva brahmalokā saddo abbhuggacchi. Ayañca dasasahassī lokadhātu saṅkampi sampakampi sampavedhi. Appamāṇo ca obāro obhāso loke pāturahosi atikkammeva devānaṃ devānubhāvaṃ.

So in that moment, in that instant, the cry reached as far as the Brahmā world. And this ten-thousandfold world system shook, quaked and trembled, and a boundless, magnificent radiance appeared in the world, surpassing the majesty of the devas.

อะถะโข ภะคะวา อุทานัง อุทาเนสิ. อัญญาสิ วะตะ โภ โกณฑัญโญ, อัญญาสิ วะตะ โภ โกณฑัญโญติ.

Athakho bhagavā udānaṃ udānesi. Aññāsi vata bho koṇḍañño, aññāsi vata bho koṇḍaññoti.

Then the Blessed One uttered this exclamation: Koṇḍañña has indeed understood! Koṇḍañña has indeed understood!

อิติหิทัง อายัส๎มะโต โกณฑัญญัสสะ อัญญาโกณฑัญโญเต๎ววะ นามัง อะโหสีติ.

Itihidaṃ āyasmato koṇḍaññassa aññākoṇḍaññotveva nāmaṃ ahosīti.

And so it was that the venerable Koṇḍañña came to be called Aññā Koṇḍañña — Koṇḍañña Who Understood.
