วิเนตา สุขะมัคคัส๎มิง เวเนยเย วินะยัง มุนิ
Vinetā sukhamaggasmiṃ veneyye vinayaṃ muni
The Sage, training those fit to be trained in the path of happiness,
อะกะรัญญัปปะหานายะ กะรัญญะกะระณายะ จะ.
Akaraññappahānāya karaññakaraṇāya ca.
so that what should not be done be abandoned, and what should be done be done —
ยัง สุตตันตัง อะภาสิตถะ เวเทหะมุนิโน วะรัง
Yaṃ suttantaṃ abhāsittha vedehamunino varaṃ
the discourse he spoke, excellent, to the Sage of Videha,
สุต๎วา ตะถานุการายะ ตัง สุตตันตัง ภะณามะ เส.
Sutvā tathānukārāya taṃ suttantaṃ bhaṇāma se.
let us recite that discourse, having heard it, so as to act accordingly.

เอวัมเม สุตัง. เอกัง สะมะยัง ภะคะวา สาวัตถิยัง วิหะระติ เชตะวะเน อะนาถะปิณฑิกัสสะ อาราเม. อะถะโข อายัส๎มา อานันโท, เยนะ ภะคะวา เตนุปะสังกะมิ, อุปะสังกะมิต๎วา ภะคะวันตัง อะภิวาเทต๎วา เอกะมันตัง นิสีทิ, เอกะมันตัง นิสินนัง โข อายัส๎มันตัง อานันทัง ภะคะวา เอตะทะโวจะ. เอกังเสนาหัง อานันทะ อะกะระณียัง วะทามิ. กายะทุจจะริตัง วะจีทุจจะริตัง มะโนทุจจะริตังติ. ยะมิทัง ภันเต ภะคะวะตา เอกังเสนะ อะกะระณียัง อักขาตัง, กายะทุจจะริตัง วะจีทุจจะริตัง มะโนทุจจะริตัง. ตัส๎มิง อะกะระณีเย กะยิระมาเน, โก อาทีนะโว ปาฏิกังโขติ. ยะมิทัง อานันทะ มะยา เอกังเสนะ อะกะระณียัง อักขาตัง, กายะทุจจะริตัง วะจีทุจจะริตัง มะโนทุจจะริตัง. ตัส๎มิง อะกะระณีเย กะยิระมาเน, อะยัง อาทีนะโว ปาฏิกังโข. อัตตาปิ อัตตานัง อุปะวะทะติ, อะนุวิจจะ วิญญู คะระหันติ, ปาปะโก กิตติสัทโท อัพภุคคัจฉะติ, สัมมุฬโห กาลัง กะโรติ, กายัสสะ เภทา ปะรัมมะระณา อะปายัง ทุคคะติง วินิปาตัง นิระยัง อุปะปัชชะติ. ยะมิทัง อานันทะ มะยา เอกังเสนะ อะกะระณียัง อักขาตัง, กายะทุจจะริตัง วะจีทุจจะริตัง มะโนทุจจะริตัง. ตัส๎มิง อะกะระณีเย กะยิระมาเน, อะยัง อาทีนะโว ปาฏิกังโข.
Evamme sutaṃ. Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Athakho āyasmā ānando, yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi, ekamantaṃ nisinnaṃ kho āyasmantaṃ ānandaṃ bhagavā etadavoca. Ekaṃsenāhaṃ ānanda akaraṇīyaṃ vadāmi. kāyaduccaritaṃ vacīduccaritaṃ manoduccaritaṃti. Yamidaṃ bhante bhagavatā ekaṃsena akaraṇīyaṃ akkhātaṃ, kāyaduccaritaṃ vacīduccaritaṃ manoduccaritaṃ. Tasmiṃ akaraṇīye kayiramāne, ko ādīnavo pāṭikaṅkhoti. Yamidaṃ ānanda mayā ekaṃsena akaraṇīyaṃ akkhātaṃ, kāyaduccaritaṃ vacīduccaritaṃ manoduccaritaṃ. Tasmiṃ akaraṇīye kayiramāne, ayaṃ ādīnavo pāṭikaṅkho. Attāpi attānaṃ upavadati, anuvicca viññū garahanti, pāpako kittisaddo abbhuggacchati, sammūḷho kālaṃ karoti, kāyassa bhedā parammaraṇā apāyaṃ duggatiṃ vinipātaṃ nirayaṃ upapajjati. Yamidaṃ ānanda mayā ekaṃsena akaraṇīyaṃ akkhātaṃ, kāyaduccaritaṃ vacīduccaritaṃ manoduccaritaṃ. Tasmiṃ akaraṇīye kayiramāne, ayaṃ ādīnavo pāṭikaṅkho.
Thus have I heard. At one time the Blessed One was staying near Sāvatthī, in Jeta's Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika's park. Then the venerable Ānanda approached the Blessed One, paid homage and sat down to one side. To him the Blessed One said this: 'Ānanda, I say categorically that misconduct of body, speech and mind should not be done.' 'Venerable sir, of that misconduct which the Blessed One has categorically declared should not be done — what danger is to be expected when it is done?' 'Ānanda, of that misconduct which I have categorically declared should not be done, this danger is to be expected: one blames oneself; on considering, the wise censure one; an evil report spreads abroad; one dies confused; and on the breaking up of the body, after death, one reappears in a state of deprivation, a bad destination, the lower world, hell.'
