มนต์เจ็ดตำนานมีนิยมใช้อยู่ ๓ แบบ คือ

สวดเจ็ดตำนานอย่างเต็มที่
chanting the Seven Tamnan in full
สวดเจ็ดตำนานอย่างปานกลาง
chanting the Seven Tamnan in the middling form
สวดเจ็ดตำนานอย่างย่อ
chanting the Seven Tamnan in the short form

เมื่อทายกอาราธนาพระปริตรจบแล้ว พระภิกษุรูปหนึ่งตั้งพัดขัดชุมนุมเทวดา ขึ้น ผะริต์วานะ เมตตัง สะเมตตา ภะทันตา ฯเปฯ ธัมมัสสะวะนะกาโล อะยัมภะทันตา. วางพัดไว้ แล้วพระเถระผู้เป็นประธานนำสวดต่อไปตามลำดับดังต่อไปนี้
When the layman has finished requesting the parittas, one monk raises his fan and chants the introduction assembling the devas, pharitvāna mettaṃ sametā bhadantā … ending dhammassavanakālo ayambhadantā. He sets the fan down, and the presiding elder leads the chanting in order as follows:

The Opening of the Seven Tamnan
นะมะการะปาฐะ คือ นะโม ฯเปฯ 3 จบ
The homage passage, that is namo … three times.
สะระณะคะมะนะปาฐะ คือ พุทธัง สะระณัง คัจฉามิ ฯเปฯ ตะติยัมปิ สังฆัง สะระณัง คัจฉามิ.
The going-for-refuge passage, buddhaṃ saraṇaṃ gacchāmi … tatiyampi saṅghaṃ saraṇaṃ gacchāmi.
นะมะการะสิทธิคาถา คือ โย จักขุมา โมหะมะลาปะกัฏโฐ ฯเปฯ สัพพันตะรายา จะ วินาสะเมนตุ.
The Namakārasiddhi verses, yo cakkhumā mohamalāpakaṭṭho … sabbantarāyā ca vināsamentu.
นะโมการะอัฏฐะกะคาถา คือ นะโม อะระหะโต สัมมาสัมพุทธัสสะ มะเหสิโน ฯเปฯ นะโมการัสสะ เตเชนะ วิธิมหิ โหมิ เตชะวา.
The Namokāra-aṭṭhaka verses, namo arahato sammāsambuddhassa mahesino … namokārassa tejena vidhimhi homi tejavā.
แล้วนำสวดเจ็ดตำนานต่อไปดังนี้
Then he leads the Seven Tamnan itself, as follows:
มังคะละสุตตะ ขึ้น เอวัมเม สุตัง. เอกัง สะมะยัง ภะคะวา ฯเปฯ ตันเตสัง มังคะละมุตตะมันติ.
The Maṅgala Sutta, beginning evaṃ me sutaṃ, ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā … ending tantesaṃ maṅgalamuttamanti.
ระตะนะสุตตะ ขึ้น ยานีธะ ภูตานิ สะมาคะตานิ ฯเปฯ ตะถาคะตัง เทวะมะนุสสะปูชิตัง สังฆัง นะมัสสามะ สุวัตถิ โหตุ.
The Ratana Sutta, beginning yānīdha bhūtāni samāgatāni … ending tathāgataṃ devamanussapūjitaṃ saṅghaṃ namassāma suvatthi hotu.
กะระณียะเมตตะสุตตะ ขึ้น กะระณียะมัตถะกุสะเลนะ ยันตัง สันตัง ปะทัง อะภิสะเมจจะ ฯเปฯ กาเมสุ วิเนยยะ เคธัง นะ หิ ชาตุ คัพภะเสยยัง ปุนะเรตีติ.
The Karaṇīyametta Sutta, beginning karaṇīyamatthakusalena yaṃ taṃ santaṃ padaṃ abhisamecca … ending kāmesu vineyya gedhaṃ na hi jātu gabbhaseyyaṃ punaretīti.
