มะหาการุณิโก นาโถ ฯเปฯ ละภันตัตเถ ปะทักขิเณ แล้วสวด ภะวะตุ สัพพะมังคะลัง ต่อไปจนถึง สะทา โสตถี ภะวันตุ เต.

Mahākāruṇiko nātho … labhantatthe padakkhiṇe; then chant bhavatu sabbamaṅgalaṃ on to sadā sotthī bhavantu te.

เมื่อประธานให้ศีลเสร็จแล้ว นำสวดดังต่อไปนี้

When the one presiding has finished giving the precepts, he leads the chanting as follows:

นะมะการะปาฐะ คือ นะโม ฯเปฯ 3 จบ

The homage passage, that is namo … three times.

อิติปิ โส ภะคะวา ฯเปฯ อะนุตตะรัง ปุญญักเขตตัง โลกัสสาติ.

Itipi so bhagavā … ending anuttaraṃ puññakkhettaṃ lokassāti.

พาหุง สะหัสสะมะภินิมมิตะสาวุธันตัง ฯเปฯ โมกขัง สุขัง อะธิคะเมยยะ นะโร สะปัญโญ.

Bāhuṃ sahassamabhinimmitasāvudhantaṃ … ending mokkhaṃ sukhaṃ adhigameyya naro sapañño.

ระเบียบสวดมนต์ในงานอวมงคลนั้น โดยมากมีดังนี้ คือ งานทำบุญศพ 7 วัน 50 วัน 100 วันและงานสัตตมวารที่ทำทุก 7 วันในระหว่าง 7 วันถึง 50 วัน และ 50 วันถึง 100 วัน นอกจากนี้ก็มีงานทำบุญปรารภวันตายของบรรพบุรุษบุรพาจารย์ ซึ่งมีนิยมทำกันอยู่โดยมาก ระเบียบการสวดมนต์ในงานพิธีเช่นนี้ มีต้นสวดมนต์และท้ายสวดมนต์เป็นระเบียบเดียวกันต่างแต่พระสูตรที่นำมาสวดให้เหมาะสมแก่งาน หรือให้ถูกกับความปรารถนาของเจ้าของงานเท่านั้น ดังจะแนะไว้ต่อไปนี้.-

The order of chanting at inauspicious occasions is mostly as follows: merit-making for the dead at seven days, fifty days and a hundred days, and the seven-day observances made every seven days between the seventh and the fiftieth day, and between the fiftieth and the hundredth. Besides these there is merit-making on the anniversary of the death of forebears and former teachers, which is very commonly done. The order of chanting at such occasions has the same opening and closing throughout; only the discourse brought in to suit the occasion differs, or is chosen to match the wish of the host. It will be set out as follows.-

งานทำบุญศพ 7 วัน หรือ ที่เรียกว่า สัตตมวาร ใช้สวด อะนัตตะลักขะณะสุตตัง

For merit-making at seven days, called the sattamavāra, the Anattalakkhaṇa Sutta is chanted.

งานทำบุญศพ 50 วัน หรือ ที่เรียกว่า ปัญญาสมวาร ใช้สวด อาทิตตะปะริยายะสุตตัง.

For merit-making at fifty days, called the paññāsamavāra, the Ādittapariyāya Sutta is chanted.

งานทำบุญศพ 100 วัน หรือ ที่เรียกว่า สตมวาร ใช้สวดสะติปัฏฐานะปาโฐ.

For merit-making at a hundred days, called the satamavāra, the Satipaṭṭhāna passage is chanted.

งานทำบุญศพ สัตตมวาร ที่ 2-3 เป็นต้น นิยมใช้สวด ธัมมะนิยามะสุตตัง แต่จะสวดสูตรอื่นสูตรหนึ่งสูตรใดก็ได้ สุดแต่ผู้เป็นประธานจะพิจารณาเห็นสมควร หรือ

For the second and third seven-day observances and so on, the Dhammaniyāma Sutta is usually chanted, though any other discourse may be chanted instead, as the one presiding sees fit, or
