การสวดมาติกาบังสุกุลตามระเบียบ นี้ คือ สวดอย่างเต็มที่ ถ้าย่อสวดให้ตัด วิปัสสะนาภูมิปาฐะ ออกเสีย สวด ธัมมะสังคะณีมาติกา แล้วสวด ปัฏฐานะมาติกา เลย

This chanting of the mātikā and the paṃsukūla according to the procedure is the full form. To shorten it, leave out the Vipassanābhūmi passage: chant the Dhammasaṅgaṇī mātikā and then go straight on to the Paṭṭhāna mātikā.

ในฐานะที่ไม่มีผ้าภูษาโยง ให้ใช้ด้ายสายสิญจน์แทน ถ้าไม่มีผ้าสำหรับทอดบังสุกุล ให้พระจับผ้าภูษาโยงหรือด้ายสายสิญจน์บังสุกุล

Where there is no connecting cloth, the sacred thread may be used instead. If there is no cloth to lay out for the paṃsukūla, the monks take hold of the connecting cloth or the sacred thread for it.

ขณะสวดมาติกาบังสุกุลนั้นถ้ามีพัดให้ตั้งพัดสวดและตั้งพัดบังสุกุล ต่างแต่เมื่อตั้งพัดสวดจับมือขวา เมื่อบังสุกุลจับพัดมือซ้ายเพื่อจะได้จับชักผ้าด้วยมือขวา เมื่ออนุโมทนาก็จับพัดด้วยมือขวาตามปรกติ

While chanting the mātikā and the paṃsukūla, if there is a ceremonial fan it is set up for both. The difference is that for the chanting the fan is held in the right hand, while for the paṃsukūla it is held in the left so that the cloth may be drawn with the right; and for the blessing it is held in the right hand again, as usual.

พึงมีสติสัมปชัญญะว่า เมื่อจับผ้าชักบังสุกุลนั้น ต้องหงายมือจับอย่าคว่ำมือจับ ครั้นชักแล้วให้หยิบเอาผ้านั้นไปเก็บไว้ข้างตัวเสร็จแล้วถือขาดติดตัวไปด้วย ผ้าภูษาโยงหรือด้ายสายสิญจน์นี้ ห้ามหยิบของข้ามเด็ดขาด

One should be mindful and clearly aware that when taking hold of the cloth to draw the paṃsukūla, the hand must be turned palm upward, not palm downward. Having drawn it, take the cloth and set it at one's side, and afterwards keep it as one's own. As for this connecting cloth or sacred thread — reaching across it to take anything is absolutely forbidden.

การชักผ้ามหาบังสุกุล ที่เจ้าภาพนำไปทอดไว้ที่หีบศพในเวลาก่อนจะทำการฌาปนกิจ ไม่มีการสวดมาติกาแต่อย่างใด ถือพัดมือซ้ายตรงขึ้นไปชักบังสุกุลเลย ชักเสร็จแล้วถือเอาผ้านั้นลงมา ส่วนเจ้าภาพผู้ทอดผ้าต้องยืนรออยู่จนกว่าพระจะชักบังสุกุลเสร็จ ขณะพระกล่าวคำชักบังสุกุล ประนมมือฟังตั้งใจอุทิศส่วนกุศลให้แก่ผู้ตายด้วย

For the drawing of the great paṃsukūla, which the host lays out on the coffin before the cremation is performed, there is no chanting of the mātikā at all. Holding the fan in the left hand, go straight up and draw the paṃsukūla; when it is drawn, carry the cloth down. The host who laid out the cloth must stand waiting until the monks have finished drawing it, and while the monks pronounce the words of the paṃsukūla, should listen with palms together and direct the merit to the dead.
