วิธีบรรพชาอุปสมบทแบบอุกาสะ The Method of Going Forth and Ordination, the Ukāsa Form

กุลบุตรผู้ที่มีศรัทธามุ่งบรรพชา อุปสมบท พึงรับผ้าไตรอุ้มประนมมือเข้าไปในสังฆสันนิบาต วางผ้าไตรไว้ข้างตัวด้านซ้าย รับเครื่องสักการะถวายพระอุปัชฌายะ แล้วกราบด้วยเบญจางคประดิษฐ์ 3 ครั้ง แล้วอุ้มผ้าไตรประนมมือ ยืนขึ้น เปล่งวาจาขอบรรพชาว่าดังนี้
A son of good family with faith, intending to go forth and be ordained, should take the set of three robes and enter the assembly of the Saṅgha holding them with palms together, set the robes at his left side, receive the offerings and present them to the preceptor, bow three times with the fivefold prostration, then hold the robes with palms together, STAND UP, and pronounce the request for the going forth thus:
อุกาสะ วันทามิ ภันเต, สัพพัง อะปะราธัง ขะมะถะ เม ภันเต, มะยา กะตัง ปุญญัง สามินา อะนุโมทิตัพพัง, สามินา กะตัง ปุญญัง มัยหัง ทาตัพพัง, สาธุ สาธุ อะนุโมทามิ.
Ukāsa vandāmi bhante, sabbaṃ aparādhaṃ khamatha me bhante, mayā kataṃ puññaṃ sāminā anumoditabbaṃ, sāminā kataṃ puññaṃ mayhaṃ dātabbaṃ, sādhu sādhu anumodāmi.
With your leave, I pay homage, venerable sir. Forgive me all my faults, venerable sir. May the merit I have made be rejoiced in by you; may the merit you have made be given to me. Sādhu, sādhu, I rejoice.
อุกาสะ การุญญัง กัต๎วา, ปัพพัชชัง เทถะ เม ภันเต,
Ukāsa kāruññaṃ katvā, pabbajjaṃ detha me bhante,
With your leave, having shown compassion, give me the going forth, venerable sir.
(นั่งลงคุกเข่าประนมมือว่า)
(Kneel down with palms together and say:)
อะหัง ภันเต, ปัพพัชชัง ยาจามิ,
Ahaṃ bhante, pabbajjaṃ yācāmi,
Venerable sir, I ask for the going forth.
ทุติยัมปิ อะหัง ภันเต, ปัพพัชชัง ยาจามิ,
Dutiyampi ahaṃ bhante, pabbajjaṃ yācāmi,
For a second time, Venerable sir, I ask for the going forth.
ตะติยัมปิ อะหัง ภันเต, ปัพพัชชัง ยาจามิ,
Tatiyampi ahaṃ bhante, pabbajjaṃ yācāmi,
For a third time, Venerable sir, I ask for the going forth.
สัพพะทุกขะ, นิสสะระณะนิพพานะ, สัจฉิกะระณัตถายะ, อิมัง กาสาวัง คะเหต๎วา, ปัพพาเชถะ มัง ภันเต, อะนุกัมปัง อุปาทายะ.
Sabbadukkha, nissaraṇanibbāna, sacchikaraṇatthāya, imaṃ kāsāvaṃ gahetvā, pabbājetha maṃ bhante, anukampaṃ upādāya.
For the sake of realising Nibbāna, the escape from all suffering, having taken this ochre cloth, give me the going forth, venerable sir, out of compassion.
(ตั้งแต่ สัพพะทุกขะ มา ว่า 3 ครั้ง พระอุปัชฌายะรับผ้าไตร แล้วว่าต่อไป)
(From sabbadukkha onward, say three times. The preceptor takes the robes, then continue:)
สัพพะทุกขะ, นิสสะระณะนิพพานะ, สัจฉิกะระณัตถายะ, เอตัง กาสาวัง ทัต๎วา, ปัพพาเชถะ มัง ภันเต, อะนุกัมปัง อุปาทายะ.
Sabbadukkha, nissaraṇanibbāna, sacchikaraṇatthāya, etaṃ kāsāvaṃ datvā, pabbājetha maṃ bhante, anukampaṃ upādāya.
For the sake of realising Nibbāna, the escape from all suffering, having GIVEN this ochre cloth, give me the going forth, venerable sir, out of compassion.
(ตั้งแต่ สัพพะทุกขะ มา ว่า 3 ครั้ง)
(From sabbadukkha onward, say three times.)
ในลำดับนั้น พระอุปัชฌายะให้โอวาท และบอก ตะจะปัญจะกะกัมมัฏฐาน ให้ว่าตามไปทีละบท โดยอนุโลมและปฏิโลมดังนี้
Then the preceptor gives the exhortation and teaches the five-part meditation on the skin, having him repeat it phrase by phrase, forwards and in reverse, thus:
เกสา โลมา นะขา ทันตา ตะโจ (อนุโลม)
Kesā lomā nakhā dantā taco …
Hair of the head, hair of the body, nails, teeth, skin. (forwards)
ตะโจ ทันตา นะขา โลมา เกสา. (ปฏิโลม)
Taco dantā nakhā lomā kesā. …
Skin, teeth, nails, hair of the body, hair of the head. (in reverse)
พระอุปัชฌายะชักอังสะออกจากไตรสวมให้แล้ว สั่งให้ออกไปครองผ้าครบไตรจีวรตามระเบียบ ครั้นเสร็จแล้วรับเครื่องไทยทานเข้าไปหาพระอาจารย์ท่าน แล้วกราบลง 3 ครั้ง ยืนประนมมือเปล่งวาจาขอสรณะและศีลดังนี้
The preceptor draws the shoulder-cloth from the set and puts it on him, and tells him to go out and put on the full three robes properly. When that is done he takes the offerings, goes to the teacher, bows three times, then STANDS with palms together and asks for the refuges and precepts thus:
