ยัสเสเต จะตุโร ธัมมา สัทธัสสะ ฆะระเมสิโน
yassete caturo dhammā saddhassa gharamesino
In the faithful householder in whom these four things are found —
สัจจัง ธัมโม ธิติ จาโค สะ เว เปจจะ นะ โสจะติ.
saccaṃ dhammo dhiti cāgo sa ve pecca na socati.
truth, Dhamma, steadfastness, generosity — he indeed does not grieve when he has passed on.
อิงฆะ อัญเญปิ ปุจฉัสสุ ปุถู สะมะณะพ๎ราห๎มะเณ
iṅgha aññepi pucchassu puthū samaṇabrāhmaṇe
Come now, ask others also, the many ascetics and brahmins,
ยะทิ สัจจา ทะมา จาคา ขันต๎ยา ภิยโยธะ วิชชะตีติ.
yadi saccā damā cāgā khantyā bhiyyodha vijjatīti.
whether anything greater than truth, self-control, generosity and patience is found here.
สัจจะปานะวิธ๎ยานุรูปะคาถา นิฏฐิตา
saccapānavidhyānurūpagāthā niṭṭhitā

ภุตตา โภคา ภะฏา ภัจจา วิติณณา อาปะทาสุ เม
bhuttā bhogā bhaṭā bhaccā vitiṇṇā āpadāsu me
My wealth has been enjoyed, my dependants supported, adversities have been overcome by me;
อุทธัคคา ทักขิณา ทินนา อะโธ ปัญจะ พะลี กะตา.
uddhaggā dakkhiṇā dinnā atho pañca balī katā.
offerings leading upward have been given, and the five oblations made.
อุปัฏฐิตา สีละวันโต สัญญะตา พ๎รัห๎มะจาริโน
upaṭṭhitā sīlavanto saññatā brahmacārino
The virtuous have been waited upon, the restrained who live the holy life.
ยะทัตถัง โภคะมิจเฉยยะ ปัณฑิโต ฆะระมาวะสัง.
yadatthaṃ bhogamiccheyya paṇḍito gharamāvasaṃ.
That purpose for which a wise man dwelling at home would wish for wealth —
โส เม อัตโถ อะนุปปัตโต กะตัง อะนะนุตาปิยัง
so me attho anuppatto kataṃ ananutāpiyaṃ
that purpose I have attained; what I have done brings no remorse.
เอตัง อะนุสสะรัง มัจโจ อะริยะธัมเม ฐิโต นะโร,
etaṃ anussaraṃ macco ariyadhamme ṭhito naro,
A mortal who recalls this, a man standing firm in the noble Dhamma,
อิเธวะ นัง ปะสังสันติ เปจจะ สัคเค ปะโมทะตีติ.
idheva naṃ pasaṃsanti pecca sagge pamodatīti.
him they praise here and now, and hereafter he rejoices in heaven.
อาทิยะสุตตะคาถา นิฏฐิตา

เสลา วิปุลา: The Simile of the Mountains
ยะถาปิ เสลา วิปุลา นะภัง อาหัจจะ ปัพพะตา
yathāpi selā vipulā nabhaṃ āhacca pabbatā
Just as vast rocks, mountains reaching to the sky,
สะมันตา อะนุปะริเยยยุง นิปโปเถนตา จะตุททิสา.
samantā anupariyeyyuṃ nippothentā catuddisā.
should advance from every side, grinding down the four quarters —
ชะรา จะ มัจจุ จะ: Ageing and Death
เอวัง ชะรา จะ มัจจุ จะ อะธิวัตตันติ ปาณิโน
evaṃ jarā ca maccu ca adhivattanti pāṇino
just so do ageing and death roll over living beings:
ขัตติเย พ๎ราห๎มะเณ เวสเส สุทเท จัณฑาละปุกกุเส
khattiye brāhmaṇe vesse sudde caṇḍālapukkuse
nobles, brahmins, merchants, servants, outcastes and refuse-workers.
นะ กิญจิ ปะริวัชเชติ สัพพะเมวาภิมัททะติ
na kiñci parivajjeti sabbamevābhimaddati
They spare nothing whatever, they crush down all alike.
นะ ตัตถะ หัตถีนัง ภูมิ นะ ระถานัง นะ ปัตติยา.
na tattha hatthīnaṃ bhūmi na rathānaṃ na pattiyā.
There is no ground there for elephants, none for chariots, none for infantry.
