ตะติยัมปิ ธัมมัง สะระณัง คัจฉามิ.

Tatiyampi dhammaṃ saraṇaṃ gacchāmi.

For a third time I go to the Dhamma for refuge.

ตะติยัมปิ สังฆัง สะระณัง คัจฉามิ.

Tatiyampi saṅghaṃ saraṇaṃ gacchāmi.

For a third time I go to the Saṅgha for refuge.

(พระท่านว่า) ติสะระณะคะมะนัง นิฏฐิตัง. (รับว่า) อามะ ภันเต.

Tisaraṇagamanaṃ niṭṭhitaṃ. Āma bhante.

(The monk says:) The going for refuge is completed. (The response:) Yes, venerable sir.

ปาณาติปาตา เวระมะณี สิกขาปะทัง สะมาทิยามิ.

Pāṇātipātā veramaṇī sikkhāpadaṃ samādiyāmi.

(ข้าพเจ้าสมาทานซึ่งสิกขาบท คือเว้นจากฆ่าสัตว์มีชีวิตด้วยตนเองและใช้ให้ผู้อื่นฆ่า)

I undertake the training rule to abstain from killing living beings. (I undertake the training rule, that is, to refrain from killing living creatures myself and from having others kill.)

อะทินนาทานา เวระมะณี สิกขาปะทัง สะมาทิยามิ.

Adinnādānā veramaṇī sikkhāpadaṃ samādiyāmi.

(ข้าพเจ้าสมาทานซึ่งสิกขาบท คือเว้นจากลักทรัพย์ด้วยตนเองและใช้ให้ผู้อื่นลัก)

I undertake the training rule to abstain from taking what is not given. (I undertake the training rule, that is, to refrain from stealing myself and from having others steal.)

อะพ๎รัห๎มะจะริยา เวระมะณี สิกขาปะทัง สะมาทิยามิ.

Abrahmacariyā veramaṇī sikkhāpadaṃ samādiyāmi.

(ข้าพเจ้าสมาทานซึ่งสิกขาบท คือเว้นจากอสัทธรรม กรรมอันเป็นข้าศึกแก่พรหมจรรย์)

I undertake the training rule to abstain from unchastity. (I undertake the training rule, that is, to refrain from what is ignoble, the act that is the enemy of the holy life.)

มุสาวาทา เวระมะณี สิกขาปะทัง สะมาทิยามิ.

Musāvādā veramaṇī sikkhāpadaṃ samādiyāmi.

(ข้าพเจ้าสมาทานซึ่งสิกขาบท คือเว้นจากการพูดเท็จ)

I undertake the training rule to abstain from false speech. (I undertake the training rule, that is, to refrain from speaking falsely.)

สุราเมระยะมัชชะปะมาทัฏฐานา เวระมะณี สิกขาปะทัง สะมาทิยามิ.

Surāmerayamajjapamādaṭṭhānā veramaṇī sikkhāpadaṃ samādiyāmi.

(ข้าพเจ้าสมาทานซึ่งสิกขาบท คือเว้นจากน้ำเมาคือสุรา และเมรัย อันเป็นที่ตั้งแห่งความประมาท)

I undertake the training rule to abstain from intoxicants, which are the basis of heedlessness. (I undertake the training rule, that is, to refrain from spirits and fermented drink, which are the ground of heedlessness.)

วิกาละโภชะนา เวระมะณี สิกขาปะทัง สะมาทิยามิ.

Vikālabhojanā veramaṇī sikkhāpadaṃ samādiyāmi.

(ข้าพเจ้าสมาทานซึ่งสิกขาบท คือเว้นจากการบริโภคอาหารในเวลาวิกาล)

I undertake the training rule to abstain from eating at the wrong time. (I undertake the training rule, that is, to refrain from taking food outside the proper time.)

นัจจะคีตะวาทิตะวิสูกะทัสสะนา มาลาคันธะวิเลปะนะธาระณะมัณฑะนะวิภูสะนัฏฐานา เวระมะณี สิกขาปะทัง สะมาทิยามิ.

Naccagītavāditavisūkadassanā mālāgandhavilepanadhāraṇamaṇḍanavibhūsanaṭṭhānā veramaṇī sikkhāpadaṃ samādiyāmi.

(ข้าพเจ้าสมาทานซึ่งสิกขาบท คือเว้นจากการดู ฟัง ฟ้อนรำ ขับร้องและประโคมเครื่องดนตรีต่างๆ และการเล่นที่เป็นข้าศึกแก่กุศล และทัดทรงตกแต่งร่างกายด้วยเครื่องประดับและดอกไม้ของหอม เครื่องทาเครื่องย้อม ผัดผิวให้งามต่างๆ)

I undertake the training rule to abstain from dancing, singing, music and unseemly shows, and from wearing garlands, scents, cosmetics and adornment. (I undertake the training rule, that is, to refrain from watching and listening to dancing, singing and the playing of instruments of all kinds, and from amusements that are the enemy of what is wholesome; and from adorning the body with ornaments and scented flowers, ointments and dyes, and beautifying the complexion.)

อุจจาสะยะนะมะหาสะยะนา เวระมะณี สิกขาปะทัง สะมาทิยามิ.

Uccāsayanamahāsayanā veramaṇī sikkhāpadaṃ samādiyāmi.

(ข้าพเจ้าสมาทานซึ่งสิกขาบท คือ เว้นจากนั่งนอนเหนือเตียง ตั่งมีเท้าสูงเกินประมาณ และที่นั่งที่นอนอันสูงใหญ่ ภายในใส่นุ่นและสำลี อาสนะ อันวิจิตรไปด้วยลวดลายงาม ด้วยเงินทองต่างๆ)

I undertake the training rule to abstain from high and luxurious beds and seats. (I undertake the training rule, that is, to refrain from sitting or lying on beds and couches with legs above the measure, and on large high seats and beds stuffed with kapok and cotton, and on seats elaborately worked with fine patterns in silver and gold.)

อิมานิ อัฏฐะ สิกขาปะทานิ สะมาทิยามิ. (ว่า 3 ครั้ง)

Imāni aṭṭha sikkhāpadāni samādiyāmi.

I undertake these eight training rules. (say 3 times)
