Sātāgirā tisahassā yakkhā nānattavaṇṇino,
Three thousand Sātāgira yakkhas, of varied hues,
Iddhimanto jutimanto vaṇṇavanto yasassino.
possessed of power, of radiance, of beauty and of renown,
Modamānā abhikkāmuṃ bhikkhūnaṃ samitiṃ vanaṃ.
came rejoicing to the wood, to the assembly of bhikkhus.
Iccete soḷasa sahassā yakkhā nānattavaṇṇino,
These sixteen thousand yakkhas, of varied hues,
Iddhimanto jutimanto vaṇṇavanto yasassino.
possessed of power, of radiance, of beauty and of renown,
Modamānā abhikkāmuṃ bhikkhūnaṃ samitiṃ vanaṃ.
came rejoicing to the wood, to the assembly of bhikkhus.
Vessāmittā pañcasatā yakkhā nānattavaṇṇino,
Five hundred Vessāmitta yakkhas, of varied hues,
Iddhimanto jutimanto vaṇṇavanto yasassino.
possessed of power, of radiance, of beauty and of renown,
Modamānā abhikkāmuṃ bhikkhūnaṃ samitiṃ vanaṃ.
came rejoicing to the wood, to the assembly of bhikkhus.
Kumbhīro rājagahiko — vepull’assa nivesanaṃ
Kumbhīra of Rājagaha — his dwelling is Mount Vepulla —
Bhiyyo naṃ satasahassaṃ yakkhānaṃ payirupāsati —
more than a hundred thousand yakkhas attend upon him —
Kumbhīro rājagahiko sopāga samitiṃ vanaṃ.
Kumbhīra of Rājagaha, he too came to the wood, to the assembly.
Purimañca disaṃ rājā dhataraṭṭho pasāsati,
And the king who rules the eastern quarter is Dhataraṭṭha,
Gandhabbānaṃ ādhipati mahārājā yasassi so.
lord of the gandhabbas, a great king of renown.
Puttā pi tassa bahavo indanāmā mahabbalā,
His sons too are many, all named Inda, of great strength,
Iddhimanto jutimanto vaṇṇavanto yasassino.
possessed of power, of radiance, of beauty and of renown,

Dakkhiṇañca disaṃ rājā viruḷho tap pasāsati.
And the king who rules the southern quarter is Viruḷha.

Puttā pi tassa bahavo indanāmā mahabbalā,
His sons too are many, all named Inda, of great strength,
