ปะติฏฐาปิตา,
patiṭṭhāpitā,
and was established here;
ยาวะเทวะ ทัสสะเนนะ ตัง ภะคะวันตัง อะนุสสะริต๎วา ปะสาทะสังเวคะปะฏิลาภายะ เจวะ,
Yāvadeva dassanena taṃ bhagavantaṃ anussaritvā pasādasaṃvegapaṭilābhāya ceva,
only so that, by the sight of it, one may recollect that Blessed One and so come to confidence and to a sense of urgency,
ตัปปัจจะยา สัมมาปะฏิปัตติปะริปูระณัตถายะ จะ,
Tappaccayā sammāpaṭipattiparipūraṇatthāya ca,
and so that, on that account, right practice may be brought to fulfilment.
มะยัญจัมหะ อิมัง ฐานัง สัมปัตตา,
Mayañcamha imaṃ ṭhānaṃ sampattā,
And we have come to this place,
อิเม ทัณฑะทีปะธูปะปุปผาทิสักกาเร อิมัส๎มิง สีหาสะเน อาโรเปต๎วา,
Ime daṇḍadīpadhūpapupphādisakkāre imasmiṃ sīhāsane āropetvā,
and having set these offerings — candles, incense, flowers and the rest — upon this lion throne,
ตัสสะ ภะคะวะโต สุจิระปะรินิพพุตัสสาปิ สะโต,
Tassa bhagavato sucirapariṇibbutassāpi sato,
to that Blessed One, long since finally gone to nibbāna though he is,
สักการัง กะริต๎วา อะภิวาทะนัง กะริมหา,
Sakkāraṃ karitvā abhivādanaṃ karimhā,
we have made our offering and paid our homage.
หันทะทานิ มะยัง ตัง ภะคะวันตัง วาจายะ อะภิคายิตุง,
Handadāni mayaṃ taṃ bhagavantaṃ vācāya abhigāyituṃ,
Now, in order to sing the praise of that Blessed One with our speech,
ปุพพะภาคะนะมะการัญเจวะ พุทธานุสสะตินะยัญจะ กะโรมะ เส.
Pubbabhāganamakārañceva buddhānussatinayañca karoma se.
let us make both the preliminary salutation and the way of recollection of the Buddha.

เมื่อทำวัตรเย็นจบแล้ว สวดพุทธะมังคะละคาถา โดยสรภัญญวิธี เหมือนที่อธิบายมาแล้ว ต่อจากบทนี้ อุบาสกอุบาสิกา ทำวัตรเย็นพร้อมกัน จบแล้วพระเถระผู้เป็นประธานขึ้นธรรมาสน์ หัวหน้าอุบาสกนั่งคุกเข่าท่าพรหม ประนมมือ กล่าวคาถาอาราธนาธรรม โดยสรภัญญวิธีดังนี้. When the evening devotions are finished, the Buddhamaṅgalagāthā is chanted in the saraphañña manner, as explained above. After this passage the laymen and laywomen perform the evening devotions together. That done, the presiding elder ascends the Dhamma seat; the chief layman kneels in the brahmā posture with palms joined and speaks the verses inviting the Dhamma, in the saraphañña manner, as follows.

จาตุททะสี ปัณณะระสี ยา จะ ปักขัสสะ อัฏฐะมี
Cātuddasī paṇṇarasī yā ca pakkhassa aṭṭhamī
The fourteenth day, the fifteenth, and the eighth of the fortnight —
กาลา พุทเธนะ ปัญญัตตา สัทธัมมัสสะวะนัสสิเม.
Kālā buddhena paññattā saddhammassavanassime.
these are the times appointed by the Buddha for the hearing of the True Dhamma.
ปัณณะระสี อะยันทานิ สัมปัตตา อะภิลักขิตา
Paṇṇarasī ayandāni sampattā abhilakkhitā
Now this fifteenth day has come, a day marked out for it,
เตนายัง ปะริสา ธัมมัง โสตุง อิธะ สะมาคะตา.
Tenāyaṃ parisā dhammaṃ sotuṃ idha samāgatā.
and therefore this assembly has gathered here to hear the Dhamma.
สาธุ อัยโย ภิกขุสังโฆ กะโรตุ ธัมมะเทสะนัง
Sādhu ayyo bhikkhusaṅgho karotu dhammadesanaṃ
It would be well, venerable sir, if the Bhikkhu Sangha would give a teaching of the Dhamma,
อะยัญจะ ปะริสา สัพพา อัฏฐิกัต๎วา สุณาตุ ตันติ.
Ayañca parisā sabbā aṭṭhikatvā suṇātu tanti.
and if this whole assembly, giving it their full attention, would listen to it.
พระเถระผู้เป็นประธาน เริ่มแสดงพระธรรมเทศนากัณฑ์แรกในเรื่องเกี่ยวกับงานในวันมาฆบูชา วิสาขบูชา อัฏฐมีบูชา หรืออาสาฬหบูชา ตามอนุรูปแก่งาน จบแล้ว พระภิกษุสงฆ์ 4 รูป สวดคาถาธรรมบรรยายเนื่องในงานนั้นๆ แล้วสามเณรสวดอีกสำรับหนึ่งนับเป็นอันเสร็จพิธีปรกติเพียงเท่านี้ ต่อจากนี้ไป มีการแสดงพระธรรมเทศนาและสวดคาถาธรรมบรรยาย หรือพระสูตรต่างๆ แล้วแต่ประธานจะกำหนด เป็นการสลับผลัดกันไปจนตลอดสว่าง ในตอนนี้เป็นการกระทำปฏิบัติบูชาด้วยความสมัครใจ ผู้ที่มีศรัทธาปสาทะกล้าและมีกำลังกายดีก็อยู่ตลอดรุ่ง ที่มีศรัทธาอ่อน หรือมีกำลังกายอ่อนแอ ก็เลิกกลับที่ของตน หลังจากเสร็จพิธีปรกติแล้ว The presiding elder begins the first discourse, on the subject of the occasion — Māgha Pūjā, Visākha Pūjā, Aṭṭhamī Pūjā or Āsāḷha Pūjā — as befits it. That done, four bhikkhus chant the expository verses belonging to that occasion, and then the novices chant another set, and with this the ordinary observance is complete. From this point on there is the giving of discourses and the chanting of expository verses, or of various suttas, as the presiding monk shall appoint, alternating in turn until daybreak. This part is the offering of practice, undertaken willingly: those of strong faith and good bodily strength stay until dawn, while those of weaker faith or weaker body return to their own quarters after the ordinary observance is done…
