สังฆัสสะสันนิปาตัมหิ อุตตะเม จะตุรังคิเก
Saṅghassasannipātamhi uttame cāturaṅgike
At the supreme fourfold assembly of the Saṅgha,
อัฑฒะเตระสะหัสเสหิ ภิกขูหิ ปะริวาริโต
Aḍḍhaterasahassehi bhikkhūhi parivārito
surrounded by twelve hundred and fifty bhikkhus,
ตีหิ คาถาหิ สังขิปปัง สัพพัง พุทธานะสาสะนัง
Tīhi gāthāhi saṅkhippaṃ sabbaṃ buddhānasāsanaṃ
in three verses, condensed, the whole teaching of the Buddhas —
สะโมสาเรหิ โอวาทัง ปาฏิโมกขัง อะนุตตะรัง
Samosārehi ovādaṃ pāṭimokkhaṃ anuttaraṃ
he delivered the exhortation, the unsurpassed Pāṭimokkha.
ตะเมวันภูตะสัมพุทธัง สักขีณาสะวะสาวะกัง
Tamevaṃbhūtasambuddhaṃ sakkhīṇāsavasāvakaṃ
That same Fully Awakened One, so become, with his disciples whose taints were destroyed —
จิระการะมะตี ตัมปิ ปะสาเทนะ อะนุตตะรัง
Cirakāramatī tampi pasādena anuttaraṃ
him too, of long-enduring purpose, with unsurpassed confidence,
อะยัมปิ ปะริสา สัพพา ปะสันนา ธัมมะคามินี
Ayampi parisā sabbā pasannā dhammagāminī
this whole assembly also, confident and set upon the Dhamma,
สัมปัตตาตาทิสักการัง สุนักขัตตัง สุมังคะลัง
Sampattātādisakkāraṃ sunakkhattaṃ sumaṅgalaṃ
having come to such an offering, an auspicious conjunction, a good omen,
ทีปะธูปาทิสักกาเร อะภิสัชชิ ยะถาพะลัง
Dīpadhūpādisakkāre abhisajji yathābalaṃ
has prepared offerings of lamps, incense and the rest, so far as its strength allows,
เตหิ ปูเชตะเวหัตถะ ตุฏฐา อิธะ สะมาคะตา
Tehi pūjetavehattha tuṭṭhā idha samāgatā
and gathered here gladly, with these in hand for the honouring,
อะภิวันทะติ ปูเชติ ภะคะวันตัง สะสาวะกัง
Abhivandati pūjeti bhagavantaṃ sasāvakaṃ
it salutes and honours the Blessed One together with his disciples,
กาเลนะ สัมมุขีภูตัง อะตีตารัมมะนัตตะนา
Kālena sammukhībhūtaṃ atītārammanattanā
present before it in due season, though as an object belonging to the past,
โอสาเรนตัง ปาฏิโมกขัง วิสุทธักขะมุโปสะเถ
Osārentaṃ pāṭimokkhaṃ visuddhakkhamuposathe
delivering the Pāṭimokkha at the pure and patient Uposatha.
อิโตชะเน สุปัญเญณะ โสตถี โหนตุ สะทาปิโน
Itojane supaññeṇa sotthī hontu sadāpino
Through this good wisdom, may there always be well-being for us,
สาสะนัง สัตถุ อัมหากัง จิรัง ติฏฐะตุ ตาทิโนติ.
Sāsanaṃ satthu amhākaṃ ciraṃ tiṭṭhatu tādinoti.
and may the dispensation of our Teacher, the Such-one, long endure.

ในงานวันมาฆบูชานี้นั้น หลังจากพระเถระผู้เป็นประธานแสดงพระธรรมเทศนากัณฑ์ต้นจบแล้ว พระภิกษุ สามเณร พร้อมกันสวด โอวาทะปาติโมกขาทิปาฐะ เป็นเหมือนสวดรับเทศน์ จึงเรียงไว้ในลำดับนี้ ดังนี้ At this Māgha Pūjā observance, after the presiding elder has finished delivering the first section of the Dhamma talk, the bhikkhus and sāmaṇeras chant the Ovādapātimokkhādipāṭha together, in the manner of a chanted response to the sermon. It is therefore set out here in this order, thus.

บทขัด: The Prefatory Verse
สัตตันนัง ภะคะวันตานัง สัมพุทธานัง มะเหสินัง
Sattannaṃ bhagavantānaṃ sambuddhānaṃ mahesinaṃ
Of the seven Blessed Ones, the Fully Awakened, the Great Seers,
โอวาทะปาติโมกขัสสะ อุทเทสัตเตนะ ทัสสิตา.
Ovādapātimokkhassa uddesattena dassitā.

มะหาปะทานะสุตตันเต ติสโส คาถาติ โน สุตัง
