ยาวะตา ภิกขะเว ธัมมา สังขะตา วา อะสังขะตา วา, วิราโค เตสัง อัคคะมักขายะติ. ยะทิทัง มะทะนิมมะทะโน ปิปาสะวินะโย อาละยะสะมุคฆาโต วัฏฏูปัจเฉโท ตัณหักขะโย วิราโค นิโรโธ นิพพานัง. เย ภิกขะเว วิราคะธัมเม ปะสันนา อัคเค เต ปะสันนา, อัคเค โข ปะนะ ปะสันนานัง อัคโค วิปาโก โหติ.

Yāvatā bhikkhave dhammā saṅkhatā vā asaṅkhatā vā, virāgo tesaṃ aggamakkhāyati. Yadidaṃ madanimmadano pipāsavinayo ālayasamugghāto vaṭṭūpacchedo taṇhakkhayo virāgo nirodho nibbānaṃ. Ye bhikkhave virāgadhamme pasannā agge te pasannā, agge kho pana pasannānaṃ aggo vipāko hoti.

Monks, as far as there are states conditioned or unconditioned, dispassion is reckoned foremost among them — that is, the crushing of pride, the removal of thirst, the uprooting of clinging, the cutting of the round, the destruction of craving, dispassion, cessation, Nibbāna. Those, monks, who have faith in the Dhamma of dispassion have faith in the foremost; and for those with faith in the foremost, the result is foremost.

ยาวะตา ภิกขะเว ธัมมา สังขะตา, อะริโย อัฏฐังคิโก มัคโค เตสัง อัคคะมักขายะติ. เสยยะถีทัง สัมมาทิฏฐิ สัมมาสังกัปโป, สัมมาวาจา สัมมากัมมันโต สัมมาอาชีโว, สัมมาวายาโม สัมมาสะติ สัมมาสะมาธิ. เย ภิกขะเว อะริยะมัคคะธัมเม ปะสันนา อัคเค เต ปะสันนา, อัคเค โข ปะนะ ปะสันนานัง อัคโค วิปาโก โหติ.

Yāvatā bhikkhave dhammā saṅkhatā, ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo tesaṃ aggamakkhāyati. Seyyathīdaṃ sammādiṭṭhi sammāsaṅkappo, sammāvācā sammākammanto sammā-ājīvo, sammāvāyāmo sammāsati sammāsamādhi. Ye bhikkhave ariyamaggadhamme pasannā agge te pasannā, agge kho pana pasannānaṃ aggo vipāko hoti.

Monks, as far as there are conditioned states, the noble eightfold path is reckoned foremost among them — that is, right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration. Those, monks, who have faith in the Dhamma of the noble path have faith in the foremost; and for those with faith in the foremost, the result is foremost.

ยาวะตา ภิกขะเว สังฆา วา คะณา วา ตะถาคะตะสาวะกะสังโฆ เตสัง อัคคะมักขายะติ. ยะทิทัง จัตตาริ ปุริสะยุคานิ อัฏฐะ ปุริสะปุคคะลา. เย ภิกขะเว สังเฆ ปะสันนา อัคเค เต ปะสันนา, อัคเค โข ปะนะ ปะสันนานัง อัคโค วิปาโก โหติ.

Yāvatā bhikkhave saṅghā vā gaṇā vā tathāgatasāvakasaṅgho tesaṃ aggamakkhāyati. Yadidaṃ cattāri purisayugāni aṭṭha purisapuggalā. Ye bhikkhave saṅghe pasannā agge te pasannā, agge kho pana pasannānaṃ aggo vipāko hoti.

Monks, as far as there are communities or groups, the Sangha of the Tathāgata's disciples is reckoned foremost among them — that is, the four pairs of persons, the eight kinds of individuals. Those, monks, who have faith in the Sangha have faith in the foremost; and for those with faith in the foremost, the result is foremost.

อิเม โข ภิกขะเว จัตตาโร อัคคัปปะสาทาติ. อิทะมะโวจะ ภะคะวา. อิทัง วัต๎วานะ สุคะโต, อะถาปะรัง เอตะทะโวจะ สัตถา.

Ime kho bhikkhave cattāro aggappasādāti. Idamavoca bhagavā. Idaṃ vatvāna sugato, athāparaṃ etadavoca satthā.

These, monks, are the four foremost kinds of faith. This is what the Blessed One said. Having said this, the Fortunate One, the Teacher, further said this:

อัคคะโต เว ปะสันนานัง อัคคัง ธัมมัง วิชานะตัง

Aggato ve pasannānaṃ aggaṃ dhammaṃ vijānataṃ

For those with faith in the foremost, knowing the foremost Dhamma,

อัคเค พุทเธ ปะสันนานัง ทักขิเณยเย อะนุตตะเร

Agge buddhe pasannānaṃ dakkhiṇeyye anuttare

for those with faith in the foremost Buddha, unsurpassed and worthy of gifts,

อัคเค ธัมเม ปะสันนานัง วิราคูปะสะเม สุเข

Agge dhamme pasannānaṃ virāgūpasame sukhe

for those with faith in the foremost Dhamma, the bliss of dispassion and peace,

อัคเค สังเฆ ปะสันนานัง ปุญญักเขตเต อะนุตตะเร

Agge saṅghe pasannānaṃ puññakkhette anuttare

for those with faith in the foremost Sangha, the unsurpassed field of merit —

อัคคัส๎มิง ทานัง ทะทะตัง อัคคัง ปุญญัง ปะวัฑฒะติ

Aggasmiṃ dānaṃ dadataṃ aggaṃ puññaṃ pavaḍḍhati

for those giving gifts to the foremost, foremost merit increases,

อัคคัง อายุ จะ วัณโณ จะ ยะโส กิตติ สุขัง พะลัง

Aggaṃ āyu ca vaṇṇo ca yaso kitti sukhaṃ balaṃ

and foremost long life, beauty, fame, renown, happiness and strength.

อัคคัสสะ ทาตา เมธาวี อัคคะธัมมะสะมาหิโต

Aggassa dātā medhāvī aggadhammasamāhito

The wise giver of what is foremost, composed in the foremost Dhamma,

เทวะภูโต มะนุสโส วา อัคคัปปัตโต ปะโมทะตีติ.

Devabhūto manusso vā aggappatto pamodatīti.

whether become a deva or a human, rejoices having reached the foremost.
