สะมัคคะกะระโณ พุทโธ สามัคคิยัง นิโยชะโก

Samaggakaraṇo buddho sāmaggiyaṃ niyojako

The Buddha, maker of concord, who yokes people to harmony,

สะมัคคะกะระเณ ธัมเม สาราณีเย อะเทสะยิ.

Samaggakaraṇe dhamme sārāṇīye adesayi.

taught the states to be remembered, which make for concord —

อัญญะมัญญัง ปิยะตายะ สาธิโน คาระวัสสะ จะ

Aññamaññaṃ piyatāya sādhino gāravassa ca

for affection one for another, and for respect that brings success,

สังคะหายาวิวาทายะ สามัคคิเยกะตายะ จะ

Saṅgahāyāvivādāya sāmaggiyekatāya ca

for cohesion, for freedom from dispute, and for concord and unity.

สังวัตตันเตวะ ภิกขูนัง ธัมเมนะ ปะฏิปัชชะตัง

Saṃvattanteva bhikkhūnaṃ dhammena paṭipajjataṃ

They lead onward for monks who practise by the Dhamma.

เตสัมปะกาสะกัง สุตตัง ยัง สัมพุทเธนะ ภาสิตัง.

Tesampakāsakaṃ suttaṃ yaṃ sambuddhena bhāsitaṃ.

That sutta which sets them out, spoken by the Fully Awakened One —

สุต๎วานานุกะระเณนะ ยะถา พุทเธนะ เทสิตัง

Sutvānānukaraṇena yathā buddhena desitaṃ

having heard it, so as to act as the Buddha taught,

สาธูนัง อัตตะสิทธัตถัง ตัง สุตตันตัง ภะณามะ เส.

Sādhūnaṃ attasiddhatthaṃ taṃ suttantaṃ bhaṇāma se.

for good people's own accomplishment — let us recite that discourse.

อิธะ ภิกขะเว ภิกขุโน เมตตัง กายะกัมมัง ปัจจุปัฏฐิตัง โหติ. สะพ๎รัห๎มะจารีสุ อาวิ เจวะ ระโห จะ, อะยัมปิ ธัมโม สาราณีโย ปิยะกะระโณ คะรุกะระโณ, สังคะหายะ อะวิวาทายะ สามัคคิยา เอกีภาวายะ สังวัตตะติ.

Idha bhikkhave bhikkhuno mettaṃ kāyakammaṃ paccupaṭṭhitaṃ hoti. Sabrahmacārīsu āvi ceva raho ca, ayampi dhammo sārāṇīyo piyakaraṇo garukaraṇo, saṅgahāya avivādāya sāmaggiyā ekībhāvāya saṃvattati.

Here, monks, a monk maintains bodily acts of loving-kindness towards his fellows in the holy life, both openly and in private — this too is a state to be remembered, making for affection and respect, and it leads to cohesion, to non-dispute, to concord, to unity.

ปุนะ จะปะรัง ภิกขะเว ภิกขุโน เมตตัง วะจีกัมมัง ปัจจุปัฏฐิตัง โหติ, สะพ๎รัห๎มะจารีสุ อาวิ เจวะ ระโห จะ, อะยัมปิ ธัมโม สาราณีโย ปิยะกะระโณ คะรุกะระโณ, สังคะหายะ อะวิวาทายะ สามัคคิยา เอกีภาวายะ สังวัตตะติ.

Puna caparaṃ bhikkhave bhikkhuno mettaṃ vacīkammaṃ paccupaṭṭhitaṃ hoti, sabrahmacārīsu āvi ceva raho ca, ayampi dhammo sārāṇīyo piyakaraṇo garukaraṇo, saṅgahāya avivādāya sāmaggiyā ekībhāvāya saṃvattati.

And further, monks, a monk maintains verbal acts of loving-kindness towards his fellows in the holy life, both openly and in private — this too is a state to be remembered, making for affection and respect, and it leads to cohesion, to non-dispute, to concord, to unity.

And further, monks, a monk maintains mental acts of loving-kindness towards his fellows in the holy life, both openly and in private — this too is a state to be remembered, making for affection and respect, and it leads to cohesion, to non-dispute, to concord, to unity.

ปุนะ จะปะรัง ภิกขะเว ภิกขุ, เย เต ลาภา ธัมมิกา ธัมมะลัทธา อันตะมะโส ปัตตะปะริยาปันนะมัตตัมปิ, ตะถารูเปหิ ลาเภหิ อัปปะฏิวิภัตตะโภคี โหติ, สีละวันเตหิ สะพ๎รัห๎มะจารีหิ สาธาระณะโภคี, อะยัมปิ ธัมโม สาราณีโย ปิยะกะระโณ คะรุกะระโณ, สังคะหายะ อะวิวาทายะ สามัคคิยา เอกีภาวายะ สังวัตตะติ.

Puna caparaṃ bhikkhave bhikkhu, ye te lābhā dhammikā dhammaladdhā antamaso pattapariyāpannamattampi, tathārūpehi lābhehi appaṭivibhattabhogī hoti, sīlavantehi sabrahmacārīhi sādhāraṇabhogī, ayampi dhammo sārāṇīyo piyakaraṇo garukaraṇo, saṅgahāya avivādāya sāmaggiyā ekībhāvāya saṃvattati.

And further, monks, a monk shares without reserve whatever gains are righteous and righteously obtained, down to the mere contents of his bowl, using them in common with his virtuous companions in the holy life. This too is a principle of cordiality, endearing and respectful, conducing to helpfulness, to non-dispute, to concord and to unity.
