มะหาสะมะโย ปะวะนัส์มิง เทวะกายา สะมาคะตา

Mahāsamayo pavanasmiṃ devakāyā samāgatā

A great gathering in the woodland! The hosts of devas have assembled.

อาคะตัมหะ อิมัง ธัมมะสะมะยัง ทักขิตาเยวะ อะปะราชิตะสังฆันติ

Āgatamha imaṃ dhammasamayaṃ dakkhitāyeva aparājitasaṅghanti

We have come to this gathering of Dhamma to see the unconquered Sangha.

อะถะโข อะปะรา เทวะตา ภะคะวะโต สันติเก อิมัง คาถัง อะภาสิ.

Athakho aparā devatā bhagavato santike imaṃ gāthaṃ abhāsi.

Then another deity spoke this verse in the presence of the Blessed One:

ตัต์ระ ภิกขะโว สะมาทะหังสุ จิตตัง อัตตะโน อุชุกะมะกังสุ

Tatra bhikkhavo samādahaṃsu cittaṃ attano ujukamakaṃsu

There the bhikkhus have composed themselves and made their own minds straight.

สาระถีวะ เนตตานิ คะเหต์วา อินท์ริยานิ รักขันติ ปัณฑิตาติ.

Sārathīva nettāni gahetvā indriyāni rakkhanti paṇḍitāti.

Like a charioteer taking up the reins, the wise ones guard their faculties.

อะถะโข อะปะรา เทวะตา ภะคะวะโต สันติเก อิมัง คาถัง อะภาสิ.

Athakho aparā devatā bhagavato santike imaṃ gāthaṃ abhāsi.

Then another deity spoke this verse in the presence of the Blessed One:

เฉต์วา ขีลัง เฉต์วา ปะลีฆัง อินทะขีลัง โอหัจจะมะเนชา

Chetvā khīlaṃ chetvā palīghaṃ indakhīlaṃ ohaccamanejā

Having cut the stake, cut the bar, uprooted the boundary post, unstirred,

เต จะรันติ สุทธา วิมะลา จักขุมะตา สุทันตา สุสู นาคาติ.

Te caranti suddhā vimalā cakkhumatā sudantā susū nāgāti.

they walk pure and stainless, well tamed by the One with Vision — young nagas.

อะถะโข อะปะรา เทวะตา ภะคะวะโต สันติเก อิมัง คาถัง อะภาสิ.

Athakho aparā devatā bhagavato santike imaṃ gāthaṃ abhāsi.

Then another deity spoke this verse in the presence of the Blessed One:

เย เกจิ พุทธัง สะระณัง คะตา เส

Ye keci buddhaṃ saraṇaṃ gatā se

Whoever have gone to the Buddha for refuge,

นะ เต คะมิสสันติ อะปายะภูมิง

Na te gamissanti apāyabhūmiṃ

they will not go to a state of woe;

ปะหายะ มานุสัง เทหัง

Pahāya mānusaṃ dehaṃ

laying down the human body,

เทวะกายัง ปะริปูเรสสันตีติ.

Devakāyaṃ paripūressantīti.

they will fill out the hosts of devas.

อะถะโข ภะคะวา ภิกขู อามันเตสิ. เยภุยเยนะ ภิกขะเว ทะสะสุ โลกะธาตูสุ เทวะตา สันนิปะติตา ตะถาคะตัง ทัสสะนายะ ภิกขุสังฆัญจะ. เยปิ เต ภิกขะเว อะเหสุง อะตีตะมัทธานัง อะระหันโต สัมมาสัมพุทธา, เตสัมปิ ภะคะวันตานัง เอตะปะระมาเยวะ เทวะตา สันนิปะติตา อะเหสุง. เสยยะถาปิ มัยหัง เอตะระหิ, เยปิ เต ภิกขะเว ภะวิสสันติ, อะนาคะตะมัทธานัง อะระหันโต สัมมาสัมพุทธา, เตสัมปิ ภะคะวันตานัง เอตะปะระมาเยวะ เทวะตา สันนิปะติตา ภะวิสสันติ. เสยยะถาปิ มัยหัง เอตะระหิ, อาจิกขิสสามิ ภิกขะเว เทวะกายานัง นามานิ, กิตตะยิสสามิ ภิกขะเว เทวะกายานัง นามานิ, เทสิสสามิ ภิกขะเว เทวะกายานัง นามานิ. ตัง สุณาถะ สาธุกัง มะนะสิกะโรถะ ภาสิสสามีติ. เอวัมภันเตติ โข เต ภิกขู ภะคะวะโต ปัจจัสโสสุง. ภะคะวา เอตะทะโวจะ.

Athakho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi. yebhuyyena bhikkhave dasasu lokadhātūsu devatā sannipatitā tathāgataṃ dassanāya bhikkhusaṅghañca. yepi te bhikkhave ahesuṃ atītamaddhānaṃ arahanto sammāsambuddhā, tesampi bhagavantānaṃ etaparamāyeva devatā sannipatitā ahesuṃ. seyyathāpi mayhaṃ etarahi, yepi te bhikkhave bhavissanti, anāgatamaddhānaṃ arahanto sammāsambuddhā, tesampi bhagavantānaṃ etaparamāyeva devatā sannipatitā bhavissanti. seyyathāpi mayhaṃ etarahi, ācikkhissāmi bhikkhave devakāyānaṃ nāmāni, kittayissāmi bhikkhave devakāyānaṃ nāmāni, desissāmi bhikkhave devakāyānaṃ nāmāni. taṃ suṇātha sādhukaṃ manasikarotha bhāsissāmīti. evambhanteti kho te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. bhagavā etadavoca.

Then the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus: bhikkhus, deities from ten world-systems have for the most part gathered to see the Tathagata and the Sangha of bhikkhus. Just so did deities gather in this same number for those Blessed Ones who in time past were arahants, perfectly awakened — as they have for me now; and just so will they gather for those who in time to come will be arahants, perfectly awakened — as they have for me now. I shall tell you the names of the hosts of devas, I shall proclaim them, I shall teach them. Listen, attend closely, I shall speak. Even so, venerable sir, those bhikkhus replied to the Blessed One; and the Blessed One said this:
