ชิตา วะชิระหัตเถนะ สะมุททัง อะสุรา สิตา

Jitā vajirahatthena samuddaṃ asurā sitā

Conquered by him of the thunderbolt in hand, the asuras dwell in the sea —

ภาตะโร วาสะวัสเสเต อิทธิมันโต ยะสัสสิโน.

Bhātaro vāsavassete iddhimanto yasassino.

brothers of Vāsava are these, possessed of power and of renown.

กาละกัญชา มะหาภิส์มา อะสุรา ทานะเวฆะสา

Kālakañjā mahābhismā asurā dānaveghasā

The Kālakañjas, fearsome of form, and the Dānaveghasa asuras,

เวปะจิตติ สุจิตติ จะ ปะหาราโท นะมุจี สะหะ.

Vepacitti sucitti ca pahārādo namucī saha.

Vepacitti and Sucitti, Pahārāda and Namucī with them.

สะตัญจะ พะลิปุตตานัง สัพเพ เวโรจะนามะกา

Satañca baliputtānaṃ sabbe verocanāmakā

And a hundred sons of Bali, all of them named Verocana —

สันนัยหิต์วา พะลิง เสนัง ราหุภัททะมุปาคะมุง.

Sannayhitvā baliṃ senaṃ rāhubhaddamupāgamuṃ.

they armed Bali's host and went to Rāhubhadda, saying:

สะมะโยทานิ ภัททันเต ภิกขูนัง สะมิติง วะนัง.

Samayodāni bhaddante bhikkhūnaṃ samitiṃ vanaṃ.

Now is the time, venerable sir — the assembly of bhikkhus in the wood.

อาโป จะ เทวา ปะฐะวี จะ เตโช วาโย ตะทาคะมุง

Āpo ca devā paṭhavī ca tejo vāyo tadāgamuṃ

The devas of water and of earth, of fire and of wind, came then,

วะรุณา วารุณา เทวา โสโม จะ ยะสะสา สะหะ.

Varuṇā vāruṇā devā somo ca yasasā saha.

the Varuṇa devas and the Vāruṇas, and Soma together with Yasa.

เมตตากะรุณากายิกา อาคู เทวา ยะสัสสิโน

Mettākaruṇākāyikā āgū devā yasassino

The devas of the hosts of loving-kindness and compassion came, devas of renown.

ทะเสเต ทะสะธา กายา สัพเพ นานัตตะวัณณิโน.

Dasete dasadhā kāyā sabbe nānattavaṇṇino.

These ten, ten kinds of hosts, all of them of varied hues,

อิทธิมันโต ชุติมันโต วัณณะวันโต ยะสัสสิโน

Iddhimanto jutimanto vaṇṇavanto yasassino

possessed of power, of radiance, of beauty and of renown,

โมทะมานา อะภิกกามุง ภิกขูนัง สะมิติง วะนัง.

Modamānā abhikkāmuṃ bhikkhūnaṃ samitiṃ vanaṃ.

came rejoicing to the wood, to the assembly of bhikkhus.

เวณฑู จะ เทวา สะหะลี จะ อะสะมา จะ ทุเว ยะมา

Veṇḍū ca devā sahalī ca asamā ca duve yamā

The Veṇḍū devas and the Sahalīs, the Asamas and the two Yamas,

จันทัสสูปะนิสา เทวา จันทะมาคู ปุรักขิตา.

Candassūpanisā devā candamāgū purakkhitā.

the devas who attend upon the moon came, with the moon before them.

สุริยัสสูปะนิสา เทวา สุริยะมาคู ปุรักขิตา

Suriyassūpanisā devā suriyamāgū purakkhitā

The devas who attend upon the sun came, with the sun before them;

นักขัตตานิ ปุรักขิต์วา อาคู มันทะพะลาหะกา.

Nakkhattāni purakkhitvā āgū mandabalāhakā.

and putting the constellations before them, the Mandabalāhakas came.

วะสูนัง วาสะโว เสฏโฐ สักโก ปาคะ ปุรินทะโท

Vasūnaṃ vāsavo seṭṭho sakko pāga purindado

Vāsava, best of the Vasus, came too — Sakka, the giver of gifts.

ทะเสเต ทะสะธา กายา สัพเพ นานัตตะวัณณิโน.

Dasete dasadhā kāyā sabbe nānattavaṇṇino.

These ten, ten kinds of hosts, all of them of varied hues,

อิทธิมันโต ชุติมันโต วัณณะวันโต ยะสัสสิโน

Iddhimanto jutimanto vaṇṇavanto yasassino

possessed of power, of radiance, of beauty and of renown,

โมทะมานา อะภิกกามุง ภิกขูนัง สะมิติง วะนัง.

Modamānā abhikkāmuṃ bhikkhūnaṃ samitiṃ vanaṃ.

came rejoicing to the wood, to the assembly of bhikkhus.

อะถาคู สะหะภู เทวา ชะละมัคคิสิขาริวะ

Athāgū sahabhū devā jalamaggisikhāriva

Then came the Sahabhū devas, blazing like the crest of a flame,

อะริฏฐะกา จะ โรชา จะ อุมมา ปุปผะนิภาสิโน.

Ariṭṭhakā ca rojā ca ummā pupphanibhāsino.

the Ariṭṭhakas and the Rojas, shining like the flax flower,

วะรุณา สะหะธัมมา จะ อัจจุตา จะ อะเนชะกา

Varuṇā sahadhammā ca accutā ca anejakā

the Varuṇas and the Sahadhammas, the Accutas and the Anejakas,

สุเลยยะรุจิรา อาคู อาคู วาสะวะเนสิโน

Sūleyyarucirā āgū āgū vāsavanesino

the Sūleyyas and the Ruciras came, and those who seek after Vāsava came.

ทะเสเต ทะสะธา กายา สัพเพ นานัตตะวัณณิโน,
