And what is the perception of unattractiveness? Here a bhikkhu reviews this very body, upward from the soles of the feet and downward from the tips of the hair, bounded by skin and full of many kinds of impurity: in this body there are head-hairs, body-hairs, nails, teeth, skin; flesh, sinews, bones, bone-marrow, kidneys; heart, liver, membrane, spleen, lungs; bowels, entrails, undigested food, excrement; bile, phlegm, pus, blood, sweat, fat; tears, grease, spittle, snot, oil of the joints, urine. Thus he dwells contemplating unattractiveness in this body. This is called the perception of unattractiveness.

And what is the perception of danger? Here a bhikkhu, gone to a forest, to the root of a tree, or to an empty hut, reflects thus: this body is a mass of suffering, beset with much danger; for in this body many kinds of affliction arise — diseases of the eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, head, ear, mouth and teeth; cough, asthma, catarrh, fever, ague, stomach ache, fainting, dysentery, gripes, cholera, leprosy, boils, skin disease, consumption, epilepsy, ringworm, itch, scab, chapping, scabies, blood and bile disorders, diabetes, cancer, fistula; afflictions arising from bile, from phlegm, from wind, from their conjunction, from change of season, from careless behaviour, from assault, from the ripening of kamma; cold, heat, hunger, thirst, excrement and urine. Thus he dwells contemplating danger in this body. This is called the perception of danger.
