ทักขิเณ สะวะเน มัยหัง อาสุง อานันทะราหุโล

dakkhiṇe savane mayhaṃ āsuṃ ānandarāhulo

In my right ear are Ānanda and Rāhula,

กัสสะโป จะ มะหานาโม อุภาสุง วามะโสตะเก

kassapo ca mahānāmo ubhāsuṃ vāmasotake

and Kassapa and Mahānāma are both in my left ear.

เกสะโต ปิฏฐิภาคัส๎มิง สุริโยวะ ปะภังกะโร

kesato piṭṭhibhāgasmiṃ suriyova pabhaṅkaro

At the end of my hair behind, like the radiant sun,

นิสินโน สิริสัมปันโน โสภีโต มุนิปุงคะโว

nisinno sirisampanno sobhīto munipuṅgavo

sits Sobhita, endowed with splendour, chief of sages.

กุมาระกัสสะโป เถโร มะเหสี จิตตะวาทะโก

kumārakassapo thero mahesī cittavādako

The elder Kumārakassapa, great seeker, eloquent speaker,

โส มัยหัง วะทะเน นิจจัง ปะติฏฐาสิ คุณากะโร

so mayhaṃ vadane niccaṃ patiṭṭhāsi guṇākaro

that mine of virtues is ever established in my mouth.

ปุณโณ อังคุลิมาโล จะ อุปาลี นันทะสีวะลี

puṇṇo aṅgulimālo ca upālī nandasīvalī

Puṇṇa and Aṅgulimāla, Upāli, Nanda and Sīvalī —

เถรา ปัญจะ อิเม ชาตา นะลาเฏ ติละกา มะมะ

therā pañca ime jātā nalāṭe tilakā mama

these five elders are become the auspicious marks upon my forehead

เสสาสีติ มะหาเถรา วิชิตา ชินะสาวะกา

sesāsīti mahātherā vijitā jinasāvakā

The remaining eighty great elders, victorious disciples of the Victor,

เอเตสีติ มะหาเถรา ชิตะวันโต ชิโนระสา

etesīti mahātherā jitavanto jinorasā

these great elders, conquerors, true sons of the Victor,

ชะลันตา สีละเตเชนะ อังคะมังเคสุ สัณฐิตา

jalantā sīlatejena aṅgamaṅgesu saṇṭhitā

blazing with the power of virtue, are established in each of my limbs.

ระตะนัง ปุระโต อาสิ ทักขิเณ เมตตะสุตตะกัง

ratanaṃ purato āsi dakkhiṇe mettasuttakaṃ

The Ratana Sutta is before me, the Metta Sutta on my right,

ธะชัคคัง ปัจฉะโต อาสิ วาเม อังคุลิมาละกัง

dhajaggaṃ pacchato āsi vāme aṅgulimālakaṃ

the Dhajagga behind me, the Aṅgulimāla on my left.

ขันธะโมระปะริตตัญจะ อาฏานาฏิยะสุตตะกัง

khandhamoraparittañca āṭānāṭiyasuttakaṃ

The Khandha and Mora parittas and the Āṭānāṭiya Sutta

อากาเส ฉะทะนัง อาสิ เสสา ปาการะสัณฐิตา

ākāse chadanaṃ āsi sesā pākārasaṇṭhitā

are a canopy in the sky; the rest stand as a rampart.

ชินาณา วะระสังยุตตา สัตตัปปาการะลังกะตา

jināṇā varasaṃyuttā sattappākāralaṅkatā

Joined with the manifold excellence of the Victor, adorned with seven ramparts,

วาตะปิตตาทิสัญชาตา พาหิรัชฌัตตุปัททะวา

vātapittādisañjātā bāhirajjhattupaddavā

may the troubles born of wind and bile and the rest, outward and inward,

อะเสสา วินะยัง ยันตุ อะนันตะชินะเตชะสา

asesā vinayaṃ yantu anantajinatejasā

go without remainder to their end, by the boundless power of the Victor,

วะสะโต เม สะกิจเจนะ สะทา สัมพุทธะปัญชะเร

vasato me sakiccena sadā sambuddhapañjare

while I dwell about my business, always in the cage of the Fully Enlightened One.

ชินะปัญชะระมัชฌัมหิ วิหะรันตัง มะหีตะเล

jinapañjaramajjhamhi viharantaṃ mahītale

As I dwell in the midst of the Victor's cage upon the earth,

สะทา ปาเลนตุ มัง สัพเพ เต มะหาปุริสาสะภา

sadā pālentu maṃ sabbe te mahāpurisāsabhā

may all those great and noble ones ever protect me.

อิจเจวะมันโต สุคุตโต สุรักโข

iccevamanto sugutto surakkho

Thus well guarded, well protected,

ชินานุภาเวนะ ชิตูปัททะโว

jinānubhāvena jitūpaddavo

by the power of the Victor troubles are conquered,

ธัมมานุภาเวนะ ชิตาริสังโค

dhammānubhāvena jitārisaṅgo

by the power of the Dhamma the host of enemies is conquered,

สังฆานุภาเวนะ ชิตันตะราโย

saṅghānubhāvena jitantarāyo

by the power of the Saṅgha dangers are conquered,

สัทธัมมานุภาวะปาลิโต จะรามิ ชินะปัญชะเรติ ฯ

saddhammānubhāvapālito carāmi jinapañjareti

guarded by the power of the true Dhamma, I live in the Victor's cage.
