อัจจะโย โน ภันเต อัจจัคคะมา,

Accayo no bhante accaggamā,

Venerable sir, a transgression has overcome us,

ยะถาพาเล ยะถามุฬเห ยะถาอะกุสะเล,

yathābāle yathāmuḷhe yathāakusale,

as fools, as deluded, as unskilful,

เย มะยัง ภันเต,

ye mayaṃ bhante,

in that we, venerable sir,

กะทาจิ กะระหะจิ,

kadāci karahaci,

at some time or other,

ปะมาทัง วา อาคัมมะ,

pamādaṃ vā āgamma,

having come under the sway of heedlessness,

อะโยนิโสมะนะสิการัง วา อาคัมมะ,

ayonisomanasikāraṃ vā āgamma,

or having come under the sway of unwise attention,

มะหาเถเร อะคาระวัง อะกะริมหา,

mahāthere agāravaṃ akarimhā,

have shown disrespect towards the Great Elder,

กาเยนะ วา วาจายะ วา มะนะสา วา,

kāyena vā vācāya vā manasā vā,

by body, by speech, or by mind,

สัมมุขาปิ ปะรัมมุขาปิ,

sammukhāpi parammukhāpi,

whether to his face or behind his back —

เตสัง โน ภันเต มะหาเถโร,

tesaṃ no bhante mahāthero,

of these, venerable sir, may the Great Elder

อัจจะยัง อัจจะยะโต ปะฏิคคัณหาตุ อายะติง สังวะรายะ.

accayaṃ accayato paṭiggaṇhātu āyatiṃ saṃvarāya.

accept our transgression as a transgression, for the sake of restraint in future.

ตัคฆะ โว อาวุโส อัจจะโย อัจจัคคะมา,

Taggha vo āvuso accayo accaggamā,

Indeed, friends, a transgression has overcome you,

ยะถาพาเล ยะถามุฬเห ยะถาอะกุสะเล,

yathābāle yathāmuḷhe yathāakusale,

as fools, as deluded, as unskilful,

เย ตุมเห กะทาจิ กะระหะจิ,

ye tumhe kadāci karahaci,

in that you, at some time or other,

ปะมาทัง วา อาคัมมะ,

pamādaṃ vā āgamma,

having come under the sway of heedlessness,

อะโยนิโสมะนะสิการัง วา อาคัมมะ,

ayonisomanasikāraṃ vā āgamma,

or having come under the sway of unwise attention,

มะยิ อะคาระวัง อะกัตถะ,

mayi agāravaṃ akattha,

have shown disrespect towards me,

กาเยนะ วา วาจายะ วา มะนะสา วา,

kāyena vā vācāya vā manasā vā,

by body, by speech, or by mind,

สัมมุขาปิ ปะรัมมุขาปิ,

sammukhāpi parammukhāpi,

whether to my face or behind my back.

ยะโต จะ โข ตุมเห อัจจะยัง อัจจะยะโต ทิส๎วา,

yato ca kho tumhe accayaṃ accayato disvā,

But since you have seen the transgression as a transgression,

ยะถาธัมมัง ปะฏิกกะโรถะ,

yathādhammaṃ paṭikkarotha,

and make amends for it according to the Dhamma,

อายะติง สังวะรัง อาปัชชะถะ,

āyatiṃ saṃvaraṃ āpajjatha,

and undertake restraint in future,

ตัง โว ปะฏิคคัณหามิ,

taṃ vo paṭiggaṇhāmi,

I accept it of you.

วุฑฒิ เหสา อาวุโส อะริยัสสะ วินะเย,

vuḍḍhi hesā āvuso ariyassa vinaye,

For this is growth, friends, in the discipline of the noble one:

โย อัจจะยัง อัจจะยะโต ทิส๎วา ยะถาธัมมัง ปะฏิกกะโรติ,

yo accayaṃ accayato disvā yathādhammaṃ paṭikkaroti,

that one who sees a transgression as a transgression makes amends for it according to the Dhamma,

อายะติง สังวะรัง อาปัชชะติ.

āyatiṃ saṃvaraṃ āpajjati.

and undertakes restraint in future.

ยัง ยัง ปุญญัง มะยา กะตัง อุปะจิตัง,

Yaṃ yaṃ puññaṃ mayā kataṃ upacitaṃ,

Whatever merit I have made and gathered,

กาเยนะ วา วาจายะ วา มะนะสา วา,

kāyena vā vācāya vā manasā vā,

by body, by speech, or by mind,

ตัง ตัง อายัส๎มันตานัง อาทิสสามิ,

taṃ taṃ āyasmantānaṃ ādissāmi,

all of it I dedicate to the venerable ones,

สาธายัส๎มันโต อัส๎มิง อัส๎มิง ปุญเญ ปัตติกา หุต๎วา อะนุโมทันตุ,

sādhāyasmanto asmiṃ asmiṃ puññe pattikā hutvā anumodantu,

so that the venerable ones, becoming sharers in this merit and that, may rejoice in it well,

เตนะ อะนุโมทะนามะเยนะปิ ปุญเญนะ สุขิตา โหนตุ อะโรคา นิรุปัททะวา.

tena anumodanāmayenapi puññena sukhitā hontu arogā nirupaddavā.

and by that merit, which is itself made of rejoicing, may they be happy, free of illness and free of harm.

จิรัง ทีฆะมัทธานัง อิมัส๎มิง ตะถาคะตัปปะเวทิเต ธัมมะวินะเย,

ciraṃ dīghamaddhānaṃ imasmiṃ tathāgatappavedite dhammavinaye,

For a long time, for a long span, in this Dhamma and discipline made known by the Tathāgata,

วุฑฒิง วิรุฬหิง เวปุลลัง อาปัชชันตุ.

vuḍḍhiṃ viruḷhiṃ vepullaṃ āpajjantu.

may they come to growth, increase and abundance.
