เสยยะถาปิ นามะ ปัณฑุปะลาโส พันธะนา ปะมุตโต อะภัพโพ หะริตัตตายะ.

Seyyathāpi nāma paṇḍupalāso bandhanā pamutto abhabbo haritattāya.

Just as a withered leaf freed from its stalk cannot become green again,

เอวะเมวะ ภิกขุ ปาทัง วา ปาทาระหัง วา อะติเรกะปาทัง วา อะทินนัง เถยยะสังขาตัง อาทิยิต๎วา,

Evameva bhikkhu pādaṃ vā pādārahaṃ vā atirekapādaṃ vā adinnaṃ theyyasaṅkhātaṃ ādiyitvā,

just so a bhikkhu who has taken by theft is no ascetic, no son of the Sakyan.

อัสสะมะโณ โหติ อะสักยะปุตติโย.

Upasampannena bhikkhunā sañcicca pāṇo jīvitā na voropetabbo. antamaso kunthakipillikaṃ upādāya.

A bhikkhu who has been ordained must not intentionally deprive a living being of life, down to an ant.

โย ภิกขุ สัญจิจจะ มะนุสสะวิคคะหัง ชีวิตา โวโรเปติ,

Yo bhikkhu sañcicca manussaviggahaṃ jīvitā voropeti,

Whatever bhikkhu intentionally deprives a human being of life, down to causing an abortion, is no ascetic, no son of the Sakyan.

อันตะมะโส คัพภะปาตะนัง อุปาทายะ,

Antamaso gabbhapātanaṃ upādāya,

โย ภิกขุ ปาปิจโฉ อิจฉาปะกะโต อะสันตัง อะภูตัง อุตตะริมะนุสสะธัมมัง อุลละปะติ,

Yo bhikkhu pāpiccho icchāpakato asantaṃ abhūtaṃ uttarimanussadhammaṃ ullapati,

Whatever bhikkhu, of evil wishes and overcome by desire, claims a superhuman state that is not there and untrue — jhāna, liberation, concentration, attainment, path or fruit — is no ascetic, no son of the Sakyan.

ฌานัง วา วิโมกขัง วา สะมาธิง วา สะมาปัตติง วา มัคคัง วา ผะลัง วา,

Jhānaṃ vā vimokkhaṃ vā samādhiṃ vā samāpattiṃ vā maggaṃ vā phalaṃ vā,

just so a bhikkhu who has made such a claim is no ascetic, no son of the Sakyan.

Sīlaṃ sammadakkhātaṃ samādhi sammadakkhāto paññā sammadakkhātā.
