The devas attending on the sun came, with the sun before them.
Nakkhattāni purakkhitvā āgū mandabalāhakā.
Putting the constellations before them, the Mandabalāhakas came.
Vasūnaṃ vāsavo seṭṭho sakkopāga purindado.
Vāsava, chief of the Vasus, Sakka the Purindada, came too.
Dasete dasadhā kāyā sabbe nānattavaṇṇino,
These ten, tenfold hosts, all of varied hues,
Iddhimanto jutimanto vaṇṇavanto yasassino.
possessed of power, of radiance, of beauty and of renown,
Modamānā abhikkāmuṃ bhikkhūnaṃ samitiṃ vanaṃ.
came rejoicing to the wood, to the assembly of bhikkhus.
Athāgū sahabhū devā jala-maggisikhāriva,
Then came the Sahabhū devas, blazing like the crest of a fire,
Ariṭṭhakā ca rojā ca ummāpupphanibhāsino.
the Ariṭṭhakas and the Rojas, shining like flax flowers.
Varuṇā sahadhammā ca accutā ca anejakā.
The Varuṇas and the Sahadhammas, the Accutas and the Anejakas.
