ยันเตนะ ภะคะวะตา ชานะตา ปัสสะตา อะระหะตา สัมมาสัมพุทเธนะ, ปะฐะมัง ปาราชิกัง กัตถะ ปัญญัตตันติ, เวสาลิยัง ปัญญัตตันติ.

yantena bhagavatā jānatā passatā arahatā sammāsambuddhena, paṭhamaṃ pārājikaṃ kattha paññattanti, vesāliyaṃ paññattanti.

By the Blessed One who knows and sees, the Worthy One, perfectly enlightened by himself — where was the first pārājika laid down? It was laid down at Vesālī.

กัง อารัพภาติ, สุทินนัง กะลันทะปุตตัง อารัพภาติ.

kaṃ ārabbhāti, sudinnaṃ kalandaputtaṃ ārabbhāti.

Concerning whom? Concerning Sudinna, son of Kalanda.

กิส๎มิง วัตถุส๎มินติ สุทินโน กะลันทะปุตโต ปุราณะทุติยิกายะ เมถุนัง ธัมมัง ปะฏิเสวิ ตัส๎มิง วัตถุส๎มินติ.

kismiṃ vatthusminti sudinno kalandaputto purāṇadutiyikāya methunaṃ dhammaṃ paṭisevi tasmiṃ vatthusminti.

In what matter? In the matter of Sudinna, son of Kalanda, having engaged in sexual intercourse with his former wife.

เตนะ สะมะเยนะ พุทโธ ภะคะวา เวรัญชายัง วิหะระติ นะเพรุปุจิมันทะมูเล มะหะตา ภิกขุสังเฆนะ สัทธิง ปัญจะมัตเตหิ ภิกขุสะเตหิ.

tena samayena buddho bhagavā verañjāyaṃ viharati naḷerupucimandamūle mahatā bhikkhusaṅghena saddhiṃ pañcamattehi bhikkhusatehi.

At that time the Buddha, the Blessed One, was dwelling at Verañjā at the foot of Naḷeru's nimba tree, together with a great Sangha of some five hundred monks.

อัสโสสิ โข เวรัญโช พ๎ราห๎มะโณ สะมะโณ ขะลุ โภ โคตะโม สัก๎ยะปุตโต สัก๎ยะกุลา ปัพพะชิโต, เวรัญชายัง วิหะระติ นะเพรุปุจิมันทะมูเล มะหะตา ภิกขุสังเฆนะ สัทธิง ปัญจะมัตเตหิ ภิกขุสะเตหิ.

assosi kho verañjo brāhmaṇo samaṇo khalu bho gotamo sakyaputto sakyakulā pabbajito, verañjāyaṃ viharati naḷerupucimandamūle mahatā bhikkhusaṅghena saddhiṃ pañcamattehi bhikkhusatehi.

The brahmin of Verañjā heard: "The ascetic Gotama, sir, the Sakyan son gone forth from the Sakyan clan, is dwelling at Verañjā at the foot of Naḷeru's nimba tree, together with a great Sangha of some five hundred monks."

ตัง โข ปะนะ ภะวันตัง โคตะมัง เอวัง กัล๎ยาโณ กิตติสัทโท อัพภุคคะโต, อิติปิ โส ภะคะวา อะระหัง สัมมาสัมพุทโธ, วิชชาจะระณะสัมปันโน สุคะโต โลกะวิทู, อะนุตตะโร ปุริสะทัมมะสาระถิ สัตถา เทวะมะนุสสานัง พุทโธ ภะคะวาติ.

taṃ kho pana bhavantaṃ gotamaṃ evaṃ kalyāṇo kittisaddo abbhuggato, itipi so bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho, vijjācaraṇasampanno sugato lokavidū, anuttaro purisadammasārathi satthā devamanussānaṃ buddho bhagavāti.

And this good report had gone abroad about Master Gotama: "So indeed is the Blessed One — worthy, perfectly enlightened by himself, accomplished in knowledge and conduct, well-farer, knower of the worlds, unsurpassed trainer of those to be tamed, teacher of gods and humans, the Awakened One, the Blessed One."

โส อิมัง โลกัง สะเทวะกัง สะมาระกัง สะพ๎รัห๎มะกัง, สัสสะมะณะพ๎ราห๎มะณิง ปะชัง สะเทวะมะนุสสัง สะยัง อะภิญญา สัจฉิกัต๎วา ปะเวเทติ.

so imaṃ lokaṃ sadevakaṃ samārakaṃ sabrahmakaṃ, sassamaṇabrāhmaṇiṃ pajaṃ sadevamanussaṃ sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā pavedeti.

He makes known this world with its gods, its Māras and its Brahmās, this generation with its ascetics and brahmins, its gods and humans, having realised it himself by direct knowledge.

โส ธัมมัง เทเสติ อาทิกัล๎ยาณัง มัชเฌกัล๎ยาณัง ปะริโย-สานะกัล๎ยาณัง สาตถัง สะพ๎ยัญชะนัง เกวะละปะริปุณณัง ปะริสุทธัง พ๎รัห๎มะจะริยัง ปะกาเสติ.

so dhammaṃ deseti ādikalyāṇaṃ majjhekalyāṇaṃ pariyo-sānakalyāṇaṃ sātthaṃ sabyañjanaṃ kevalaparipuṇṇaṃ parisuddhaṃ brahmacariyaṃ pakāseti.

He teaches the Dhamma that is good in the beginning, good in the middle, good in the end, with its meaning and its wording; he makes known the holy life, complete and pure in its entirety.

สาธุ โข ปะนะ ตะถารูปานัง อะระหะตัง ทัสสะนัง โหตีติ.

sādhu kho pana tathārūpānaṃ arahataṃ dassanaṃ hotīti.

And good indeed it is to see such Worthy Ones.
