อะหิ วิจฉิกา สะตะปะที อุณณะนาภี,

Ahi vicchikā satapadī uṇṇanābhī,

snakes, scorpions, centipedes, spiders,

สะระพู มูสิกา.

Sarabū mūsikā.

geckos and mice.

กะตา เม รักขา,

Katā me rakkhā,

I have made my protection,

กะตา เม ปะริตตา,

Katā me parittā,

I have made my paritta;

ปะฏิกกะมันตุ ภูตานิ.

Paṭikkamantu bhūtāni.

let the creatures depart.

โสหัง นะโม ภะคะวะโต.

Sohaṃ namo bhagavato.

I pay homage to the Blessed One,

นะโม สัตตันนัง สัมมาสัมพุทธานัง.

Namo sattannaṃ sammāsambuddhānaṃ.

homage to the seven Perfectly Awakened Ones.

วะธิสสะเมนันติ ปะรามะสันโต,

Vadhissamenanti parāmasanto,

As he touched him, thinking 'I shall kill him',

กาสาวะมัททักขิ ธะชัง อิสีนัง,

Kāsāvamaddakkhi dhajaṃ isīnaṃ,

he caught sight of the ochre robe, the banner of the seers;

ทุกเขนะ ผุฏฐัสสุทะปาทิ สัญญา,

Dukkhena phuṭṭhassudapādi saññā,

and though struck with pain, a thought arose in him —

อะระหัทธะโช สัพภิ อะวัชฌะรูโป,

Arahaddhajo sabbhi avajjharūpo,

the banner of the arahants is not to be slain by the good.

สัลเลนะ วิทโธ พ๎ยะถิโตปิ สันโต,

Sallena viddho byathitopi santo,

Pierced by the dart and afflicted though he was,

กาสาวะวัตถัมหิ มะนัง นะ ทุสสะยิ,

Kāsāvavatthamhi manaṃ na dussayi,

he did not let his mind be corrupted towards the ochre cloth.

สะเจ อิมัง นาคะวะเรนะ สัจจัง,

Sace imaṃ nāgavarena saccaṃ,

If this be truth, by the noble elephant's word,

มา มัง วะเน พาละมิคา อะคัญฉุนติ.

Mā maṃ vane bālamigā agañchunti.

may the beasts of the forest not come upon me.

ปูเรนตัมโพธิสัมภาเร นิพพัตตัง โมระโยนิยัง

Pūrentambodhisambhāre nibbattaṃ morayoniyaṃ

Born in the womb of a peacock while fulfilling the requisites of awakening,

เยนะ สังวิหิตารักขัง มะหาสัตตัง วะเนจะรา

Yena saṃvihitārakkhaṃ mahāsattaṃ vanecarā

the Great Being, whose protection was arranged by it, the forest-dwellers

จิรัสสัง วายะมันตาปิ เนวะ สักขิงสุ คัณหิตุง

Cirassaṃ vāyamantāpi neva sakkhiṃsu gaṇhituṃ

though they strove for a long while, were never able to catch;

พ๎รัห๎มะมันตันติ อักขาตัง ปะริตตันตัมภะณามะ เห.

Brahmamantanti akkhātaṃ parittantambhaṇāma he.

declared to be a Brahma-spell: that paritta let us now recite.

อุเทตะยัญจักขุมา เอกะราชา

Udetayañcakkhumā ekarājā

Here he rises, the one with vision, the sole king,

หะริสสะวัณโณ ปะฐะวิปปะภาโส

Harissavaṇṇo paṭhavippabhāso

golden-hued, illumining the earth;

ตัง ตัง นะมัสสามิ หะริสสะวัณณัง ปะฐะวิปปะภาสัง

Taṃ taṃ namassāmi harissavaṇṇaṃ paṭhavippabhāsaṃ

him I salute, the golden-hued, the illuminer of the earth —

ตะยัชชะ คุตตา วิหะเรมุ ทิวะสัง

Tayajja guttā viharemu divasaṃ

guarded by you this day, may we dwell through the daylight.

เย พ๎ราห๎มะณา เวทะคุ สัพพะธัมเม

Ye brāhmaṇā vedagu sabbadhamme

Those brahmins who are masters of knowledge in all things —
