อะรัญเญ รุกขะมูเล วา สุญญาคาเร วะ ภิกขะโว

Araññe rukkhamūle vā suññāgāre va bhikkhavo

In the forest, at the root of a tree, or in an empty dwelling, bhikkhus,

อะนุสสะเรถะ สัมพุทธัง ภะยัง ตุมหากะ โน สิยา.

Anussaretha sambuddhaṃ bhayaṃ tumhāka no siyā.

recollect the Perfectly Awakened One, and no fear will be yours.

โน เจ พุทธัง สะเรยยาถะ โลกะเชฏฐัง นะราสะภัง

No ce buddhaṃ sareyyātha lokajeṭṭhaṃ narāsabhaṃ

If you cannot recollect the Buddha, eldest in the world, bull among men,

อะถะ ธัมมัง สะเรยยาถะ นิยยานิกัง สุเทสิตัง.

Atha dhammaṃ sareyyātha niyyānikaṃ sudesitaṃ.

then recollect the Dhamma, leading out, well taught.

โน เจ ธัมมัง สะเรยยาถะ นิยยานิกัง สุเทสิตัง

No ce dhammaṃ sareyyātha niyyānikaṃ sudesitaṃ

If you cannot recollect the Dhamma, leading out, well taught,

อะถะ สังฆัง สะเรยยาถะ ปุญญักเขตตัง อะนุตตะรัง.

Atha saṅghaṃ sareyyātha puññakkhettaṃ anuttaraṃ.

then recollect the Saṅgha, an unsurpassed field of merit.

เอวัมพุทธัง สะรันตานัง ธัมมัง สังฆัญจะ ภิกขะโว

Evambuddhaṃ sarantānaṃ dhammaṃ saṅghañca bhikkhavo

For those who thus recollect the Buddha, the Dhamma and the Saṅgha, bhikkhus,

ภะยัง วา ฉัมภิตัตตัง วา โลมะหังโส นะ เหสสะตีติ.

Bhayaṃ vā chambhitattaṃ vā lomahaṃso na hessatīti.

there will be no fear, no trembling and no horripilation.

อัปปะสันเนหิ นาถัสสะ สาสะเน สาธุสัมมะเต,

Appasannehi nāthassa sāsane sādhusammate,

By those unconvinced of the Protector's Teaching, though it is held good,

อะมะนุสเสหิ จัณเฑหิ สะทา กิพพิสะการิภิ,

Amanussehi caṇḍehi sadā kibbisakāribhi,

by fierce non-human beings, forever doing harm —

ปะริสานัญจะ ตัสสันนะมะหิงสายะ จะ คุตติยา,

Parisānañca tassannamahiṃsāya ca guttiyā,

and for the safety and protection of his assemblies,

ยันเทเสสิ มะหาวีโร ปะริตตันตัมภะณามะ เห.

Yandesesi mahāvīro parittantambhaṇāma he.

that which the Great Hero taught: that paritta let us now recite.

วิปัสสิสสะ นะมัตถุ จักขุมันตัสสะ สิรีมะโต

Vipassissa namatthu cakkhumantassa sirīmato

Homage to Vipassī, possessed of vision and of glory;

สิขิสสะปิ นะมัตถุ สัพพะภูตานุกัมปิโน

Sikhissapi namatthu sabbabhūtānukampino

homage to Sikhī also, compassionate to all beings;

เวสสะภุสสะ นะมัตถุ น๎หาตะกัสสะ ตะปัสสิโน

Vessabhussa namatthu nhātakassa tapassino

homage to Vessabhū, cleansed and ardent;

นะมัตถุ กะกุสันธัสสะ มาระเสนัปปะมัททิโน

Namatthu kakusandhassa mārasenappamaddino

homage to Kakusandha, crusher of Māra's army;

โกนาคะมะนัสสะ นะมัตถุ พ๎ราห๎มะณัสสะ วุสีมะโต

Konāgamanassa namatthu brāhmaṇassa vusīmato

homage to Koṇāgamana, the brahmin who has lived the life;
